Wierd, I ended up with a MORE loaded mazda 3 than I originally wanted because it was a manual. I could either have loaded to the sun, or hand crank windows...... no in between.

I ended up with RX8 because I wanted a rwd car with a manual transmission. There do seem to be some new cars coming with manuals, though, such as the Focus ST, Golf R, and Civic Si.

GM had the shift light too.. I usually yank it as I do not like shifting at 2000rpms and having the light stare out at me on the dash.

At work the other day cars came up in conversation. These were not car guys talking. A couple of them were raving on about their remote starters so they can get the AC going in the summer time from inside the building so the car is cooled off when you walk across the parking lot. I was quiet during this whole talk until this point when I said, "I'll never have a remote starter on my car." They looked at me strangely and asked why. "I usually leave the car in gear when it is parked." It was if they didn't even know what I was talking about. I didn't even mention that I always turn the AC off before turning the engine off.
I had to search for 2 weeks and drive 3 and half hours to find my used BMW X3 manual. But I have it and couldn't be happier.
~230 HP 4K lbs. Comfy and fun for a DD. 28.3 on the highway, 22.4 mixed (70% city) Tows 3500 lbs
and I fit.
Life is good.

My ultimate driving machine (95 318ti) stranded me in the rain, in rush hour tonight (alternator took a dump). Haven't seen many other bmw drivers pushing their ride in the rain.
I found a nice cheap ultimate driving machine - 91' 318i with low miles. Its even nearby!
But I think its time to get car number 2 finished before I start on car number 3. Someday I'll give a bmw a shot, it'll probably be an ancient one by then too.

While getting gas today a nice E21 pulled in behind me. I wanted to check it out and talk to the guy, tell him I have a 2002 in the garage, but was in a hurry. Just glanced and smiled. He was filling up a 3 gallon gas can that he pulled out of the front seat floor area from under his wife's feet. Seemed like an ok guy to me.
I own a BMW and I'm not a pretentious dick. Im just a regular dick.
I've noticed the douche bags are driving the latest models, but most of the older bimmers are driven by regular dicks like me. and we usually wave to each other when we pass by. I just hope I don't have any more problems with mine because I can't afford to fix it. lovely to drive though, and I did wait and search over three months to find a stick shift. Totally worth it.

The DMV agrees, I got my E36 M3 registered today and the last 3 letters of my license plate are AZZ.
I tried to tell the girl it was a BMW I didn't need the license plate for people to know I was an AZZ....she failed to see the humor.
My sentra is a mostly optioned car with a manual. Overhead console, A/C, seven speaker stereo, SE package with the SE-R six spoke wheels and four wheel disc brakes. Only things it doesn't have is an auto, ABS, and I think a sunroof was available too. I bought it wrecked in 2006 for pennies, guy said he could have sold it ten times, but he said he had seen people walk up, see the parking brake pulled, and walk away.
I've been absolutely thrilled with the car.
Douchebags drive every type of car.
my mom's 86 Mustang had a shift light.. the little 2.3 would chug and detonate if i followed the light, so i just always hammered it hard until i was up to cruising speed.. the shift light in my 2.2 powered 97 Cavalier was a little better at not making it lug, but it would take forever to get up to cruising speed if i shifted when it wanted me to.

I gave up on BMW drivers when I did a "run" and got stuck behind a brand new M6 with no mufflers.. Literally, the 20yo who owned it, had cut the mufflers out and welded in straight pipes.
Aside from driving like a complete ass.. it was making my ears bleed.. so I turned off and went home.

Its easy to ignore if you feel like it, but then again if you follow it, you'll get excellent mileage. Also, if you decide to beat the piss out of the motor, the light comes on at redline as well. I kinda like that feature.
I used a piece of black electrical tape on my Saturns. Problem solved.
