Buy one now. You won't regret it.
No, you won't be found at fault.
Barring a miracle, the Subaru driver is long gone.
Dash cams can be wonderful, but also keep in mind they can "cut both ways". So mind your driving if you use one.

Auto Body Intensive Care? That's what Google seems to indicate. I'll check them out, that's really close to my work. Thanks for the tip.
Man that sucks. I've almost been hit too many times in the past year. People are on drugs, on a cell phone, or just berkeleying stupid.
I might get flamed for this but when people whine about people being incarcerated for non-violent crimes I have to think they lived blessed lives in the not real world. No I'm not advocating lengthy sentences just appropriate and awful enough to get peeps to stop sucking as much as they do nowadays. Maybe a simple month for the Scooby driver in a E36 M3ty prison with a blown up picture of your car on the wall. Nice Sparco rally style rims by the way.
Damage isn't too bad, shouldn't be an issue for any decent shop. Nice wheels, that is going to be a little harder to fix. Maybe Sparco would take sympathy and refinish for not too much?
On dash cams - There are some good ones out there for ~$50. almost hard to not justify one. I got one a year ago after a crazy accident sent a car across the freeway and nearly into me. While it is great for incidents like this, I am also hoping to immortalize my last 'berkeley, goddammit' for posterity sake if it goes down that way as well.

No one ever screwed with the 450,000mi 4Runner that looked every bit the 450,000 miles.
I need to invest in a fron/back dash cam.
Similarly, my friend had had his FR-S less than a month when someone rearended it, and a friend of a friend had theirs totalled when someone smashed into it in rush hour traffic.
All I have to say is that if someone ever hits my Miata, they better keep driving because I will likely yank them out of the car and beat them in the middle of the road.
Why didn't you people tell me this before I bought the damn thing?!?!
Honestly, it never really clicked until Appleseed mentioned it and I got thinking about people I knew who owned them and was like "Hmmmm, he's right."

I’m with you. Accidents are accidents. Drunk/high and driving is NOT an accident. Neither is hit-and-run. Speaking for myself and my family, my accidents are adding up to full days wasted researching the law, researching replacement vehicles, getting quotes on lawn repair, driveway repair, fighting for a days pay, picking up and delivering police reports, trips to the RMV. Why should these people not pay with a couple weeks in jail?
The Dash Cam for my BRZ (also by far the nicest car I've had) is in my trunk.
I'll install it tonight.

Amen. "Accidents" are one thing, people make mistakes and E36 M3 happens, I can easily understand and forgive that, and I hold no animosity towards the two other driver's who have hit me in the past because they made honest mistakes and were decent about it. Whatever the circumstances are in this case, I have zero sympathy for the other driver, and if caught they will be pursued to the full extent of the law with extreme prejudice. I don't care if you're drunk, high, or if it's just a case of grandpa should have had his keys taken away, if you're driving down the wrong side of a divided roadway at speed you have zero business being behind the wheel. There should be consequences for your actions. berkeley 'em.
The wheels, btw, were on the car since Saturday, so grand total of 5 days before they got berkeleyed up. I'm going to push for a full on replacement of that wheel, it was in pristine, brand new condition and it's now scuffed, scratched, and potentially structurally compromised from the hit.
If your wheel is structurally damaged then you can be pretty sure your suspension is too - maimed bushings and ball joints at the very least.
Make sure the shop checks the rear bearing. I dropped mine in a giant pothole, and when I got it back from the shop, there was a distinct hum. Bearing was bad.

Not when there's still more horses inside...
Well I went to the body shop this afternoon for an estimate. Anyone wanna take a crack at the number?
Body shop seems decent enough, they're the insurance company's recommended shop and also associated with a large, multi-brand local dealer chain. They obviously do a pretty good volume of repairs, which could be a positive or negative. On the plus side, there was a cherry NB Miata with a hard top and SCCA stickers in the employee parking and a selection of Classic Motorsports back issues in the waiting room, which I took to be a good sign.
Do you have Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists Rider on your insurance?
Here in Texas, it is cheap and offers a $250 deductible.
In reply to m4ff3w :
I do, but as I understand it, PA at least, that only covers medical in a hit and run, not property damage. I'm covered under my collision, but still gonna be out the $750 deductible.

I think you might be mixing up your analogies.
Thieves generally know how to open doors.

$1,800 if no suspension damage and repair wheel.
