Im trying to find .20 undersized rod bearings for my 2012 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L. The machine shop guy thought he could get them but now has found out that they're on factory back order from the place he's trying. He's already turned the crank. I've found some online but they say they're oversized. Are these bigger on the outside for sure? Or are they bigger on the inside? Am I completely out of luck on that? Didn't really want to get a whole new crank and everything but...

Me trying to do things a little cheaper may be coming back around to bite me.

You can buy oversized bearings to fit a fractured con rod, because you cannot mill the surfaces of the rod and cap to make the hole smaller, and then bring them back to standard.  That would be for the outside diameter.

Undersized bearings, of course, are to fit a crank journal that has been machined to a smaller diameter.

Now that we have that our of the way, you may have a poorly translated catalogue, you may have bearings to fit a resized fractured rod.  Pretty much impossible to know, without getting them and measuring.

What you do have, in my personal opinion, is an Asian crankshaft that may very well be through the hard surfacing.  I really don't like undersized Asian cranks.  Won't use them in a Honda ever, because they are Chicklets cranks- hard candy shell on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside.

I just get really nervous about going undersized on anything built in the last 20 years,  but I might be paranoid because I have to attach my shops name to it.

If you can't find any join KDM Ontario on FB

There's a guy on there named Albert who brings parts in from Korea quickly and inexpensively. He may be able to help
