Hello boys and girls. It has been ahile since I have posted anything. I will try to do better in the future.
Have any of you guys seen wheels like these. I am having terrible trouble trying to find any info on these. They are a bolt together 2 piece wheel with silicone sealer in between the 2 halves. I have spoken to a cragar distributor that has been dealing with them going back to the 70's and he has never seen them. well what about you guys?
they look rather invisible.
i wouldn't bother, they don't even look round.
Well i think they will dress up my ride just fine. No matter what some of you guys may think. I like'em. I was just thinking someone may have a little info like a brand or a name.
They are just giving you a hard time because your pictures aren't showing up.
We have no idea what you are trying to show us.
You seem to be trying to use Sprint to host your pictures. I think it's giving you the same problems people have when they try to hotlink from a private account like GMail.
Well hell.... I will have to try to figure out what I am doing wrong. They are showing up just fine on my computer. Maybe all of your computers are faulty! You didn't think about that did you?! I will try again later. Thank you for the sarcasm. It made me smile.
Okay how about this time. Do all of you see this picture? Am I the only crazy one? Cause i see all of them.
I can see the last picture. You're logged into whatever account is hosting the first two, right?
I see them, but I sort of wish I didn't. Ewww. I'd put money on those being some sort of drag racing skinnies. I knew guys with mullets in high school who ran very similar wheels.
I have some wheels like that, but they are 16x12 and 16x14 and 5x130 made by duralite in the eighties. I think those probably are weld/crager/American racing.
Wow, those look like really poor knock-offs of Weld Draglites.
Real thing:
The odd look, bolt patterns, and backspacing make me think VW sand rail application is what you have. Definitely a knock-off brand.
I used the url from the pic when i mailed it to my e-mail. The last pic (ie the only picture) I got the url from a pic on my profile. And yes they are an old drag wheel but what kind is the question. And for reference I have no mullet! I think they fit my cars personality. Old-UGly-And Means Business.
I See them now.
They look similar to a design by Weld Wheels, but not quite.
Could be knockoffs, any numbers, markings etc.?
edit: Javelin beat me to it.
I just looked at the duralite site and they do look simular. But the centers in my wheels don't unbolt from the dish. The wheel unbolts into 2 equal halves. There is no center section.
No brands, markings, size, offsets, etc on the back.
They are definitely not a name brand (Weld, Cragar, American Racing, etc).
Again, I would look at VW and sand rail shops.
I'd also get them checked out, those barrels can't be that strong. Old 2-piece wheels from unknown companies freak me out a little.
Doesnt look big enough to be a VW wide 5 pattern, maybe the 4 bolt pattern though.
to me it looks more like a universal fit type of thing.
I was thinking Centerline but definitely some kind of knock-off brand.
Thank you for the input but it appears that the search continues. They are a dual 5 lug pattern measuring 5x4 1/2 and 5x4 1/4. And 15x4. I will start worring about the structure when start popping wheelies. So for now, that is gonna be back burner thoughts.
5 on 4 1/4" is an odd size. Is that small early Mopar? That might help narrow the search a little.
I bought some slicks a few weeks ago, and the distributor had a wheel and slick mounted in the waiting room (I can only assume that it was for a pro mod, top fuel, funny car etc. cause it was GIANT) that looked very similar to my mystery wheels. I found out that they are Streaker Wheels. The gold color bolts have the signature "s" inbossed in the head of all the bolts. With what little bit of info that is out there I found out Rick Goudy, a sprint car driver, founded the company in the 70's and was very short lived by a lawsuit from Cragar wheels. I have a very small piece of automotive history. My quest is finally over. Thank you guys for all of your input, sarcasm and all!

Those look like REAL brand race wheels.
