I was just taking a look at Lime Rock's club schedule and happened to notice that tomorrow (Sat 7/25) is listed as "Ferrari (Unmuffled)".

I think I know where I'm going to be...

I read somewhere or saw on TV that they have an acoustic engineer who's job is to make sure it sounds like that. I believe it. We were out riding our bikes a few weeks ago out in the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, on a 2 lane road and coming the other way was a late model F car and about 10 P cars. That F car sure had the sound.

A blonde girl wanted some extra money, so she went door to door asking for work. One guy said, "Sure I have some work. I need my porch painted. The supplies are in the garage." They agreed on a price and he went back inside. A while later she knocked on the door and told him: "I finished. There was plenty of paint, so I put 2 coats on. Oh, and that's not a porch, it's a Ferrari."

oh. well, p cars do things like blow off and whistle, and thats pretty neat too.

And if you've ever heard a GT3 at full song its hard to argue that an F is better... just different.

The same could be said for a Rolls Royce Merlin and Griffin as well. Since no one posted a sound clip, here's one of P-51s at the Reno air races.

Not to hijack the thread, but here's another aero alternative:

Another possible thread hijack, but this is worth hearing if only briefly - Matra V12:

My apologies for the diversion(s).

andrave, I've been passed by a GT3 (I think, "GT Cup car," whatever that is, like the one recently in The Mag) on a racetrack like I was standing still. The ground shook when the thing went by. It was pretty amazing, but still didn't have the sound of the F car. Of course, I drove home on the same tires and that one left in a trailer.

There's a nice guy who races a Ferrari (OK, a "Dino") in our club.

Although not a V12, the thing sounds -Great-!

It's neat to be on track with him just to hear that engine.

Here he is chasing me through a right-hander at NHMS.

You'll need to log in to post.
