The VW bug had a lot of gear noise , an aircooled VW normally has the cooling van and exhaust that hides the gear noise......
That will also be the problem in a Retro fit EV motor swap in any car , there will be noises you never heard before , and no way to get rid of them !
I wonder what's the lightest 3-speed manual that was used? I wonder if those old throwaway Dearborns might have new life for EV projects.

That's actually how the Lordestown Truck works- it uses Hub motors, meaning the whole wheel is the motor that have planetary gears at each wheel so the whole truck is a 2 speed.
