I need to use a leakdown tester. The air compressor is a long way away from the car. I have a typical autocrosser 5 gal portable air tank. Can I use the portable tank or will the leakdown use enough air that I want to run a really long hose?

If you use air that fast you have too much leak down. I would run a long hose.

You could probably get away with the portable tank if you do a lot of walking back and forth!

I don't think it's the amount of air that would be the problem, but keeping up the pressure.

Yeah, I doubt that'll work. You need a constant pressure to calculate your leak down percentage. A 5 gallon tank will draw down pretty quickly. No harm trying it first, though. Let us know.

When I do this I tape a rubber glove over the tailpipe, the intake and the rocker breather. The one that gives me the finger is the culprit!
