So once upon a time did went to a track day as part of an article I was writing. I bought a helmet, used it once, then put it back in the box. It's just a basic Bell closed face. Is there a market for used helmets that don't funk? I finally realized that I won't be doing any motorsports events until long after the helmet has aged out.
I can also just buy a white racing suit and dress as The Stig for Halloween.
Hmm. That depends on the size and the SA rating. If it fits my big noggin and the price is right I could take it off your hands.
How far out of date is it? That will be what matters most.
If you've got a helmet you're not using, consider donating it to your local autox club to use in their loaner pool.
Right, this- thank you. If it's SA 2010 I think I can use it for rally/autocross.

A SA2010 helmet is still good for almost any form of racing. Some organizations are still allowing SA2005 helmets to be used through this year due to the perceived shortage of SA2015 helmets. Most groups that I know of that run parking lot Autocrosses allow 2005 helmets until 2020.
Ok since it is still a usable helmet in most forms of Motorsports I would say %50-%60 of retail is a fair selling price. Maybe a bit more if it really is "like New"
This is an even better idea!

Or if you have an out of date, retired one, donate it to a local firehouse so they can practice removal techniques.
The helmet is only two years old, so it isn't out of date yet. I thought about using it when I finally get my dirt bike running, but who knows when that will be.
Dean's reply seems reasonable, 50% of retail. It is immaculate.
I ask because I want a new body for my RC drift car and a new motor for my RC monster truck, and I try to keep my toys self funding. Sell helmet, but different toys.

Value of any used helmet is ZERO to me, unless I want it for display only.
No one could prove to my satisfaction that its been treated properly its whole life to make me take that risk. If you race enough its NOT IF its WHEN you crash.
Dude have a Snickers. You can't tell me you have never used a used helmet or one off the back of the truck at the local autocross.
But if the op wants to give me his worthless virtually new helmet I will take it. I know a group of kids that MO30is working with that could use it..

This is the right answer I think.
