Only valve covers from production vehicles or motorcycles may be used.
This is a gravity race, racers may possess no easily retrievable potential energy at the start of their first run (with the exception of their height from the ground at the start, which will be provided by the launch ramp). Excess kinetic energy generated during official runs may be stored onboard racers to be used during later runs. For example, you could store energy during a race against a slow car, then use it to beat a fast car in a later heat. Only energy generated during official runs may be stored onboard racers.
Maximum racer wheelbase is 24 inches, measured from the center of each wheel.
Maximum overall racer width is 12 inches.
Maximum weight is 30 pounds.
Each car must have at least 4 wheels on the track at all times.
The launch ramp will be 4 feet wide and 8 feet long, followed by an additional 20 feet of track.
Any car that crosses the centerline of the track will be disqualified.
Each run will consist of 3 heats, with the winner of any 2 heats advancing to the next stage of the competition.
The winner of each heat will be the car that crosses the finish line first, without any disqualifications.
Lanes will be swapped between heats.
Car owners are responsible for catching/stopping their own cars.
The start gate will be controlled by an independent person.
All cars must be held by the start gate so that no point of the car is past the start gate.
