Vintage race at Indy......

A buddy and I are considering going to this race weekend:

It sounds like a neat event.  I'd like to try to go some day.

My experience is via other vintage racing festivals at other venues (Watkins Glen many times, Lime Rock Park and Mid Ohio once each).

Package deals are usually worth it and may get you some parade laps on the track.

If you have a car that can qualify for the car show, do it - big benefit is it usually nets you a prime parking spot in the middle of everything.

Pack food and drinks. Venue food is typically marginal and expensive.

Don't forget a good wide brim hat and sun screen.  Often shade is at a premium.  Also pack rain gear. 

if you can do the car show, bring folding chairs.  I have one with a built-in shade cover, which is nice when sitting by the car in an open field.
