The roof on my wife's Corolla is starting to look pretty haggard. It has FL skin cancer and now some surface rust. The plan is a light light sanding, rattle can black and then go over the whole thing with vinyl until we save up some $$$/ get the time to vet some local shops to paint the whole car.

Seems like you can get the 3M 1080 stuff for $16-18 a foot online. Seem reasonable? any other suggestions?

What about plastidip? Should only take 1-1.5 cans to put a thick coat on a roof. Peels off just like vinyl when you want it gone.

I want gloss and I need it to last a little longer. I would like to say we would get this car painted in 6-8 months but judging by current project projections I bet it needs to last longer. Plus plastidip isn't that cheap once you factor in the gun and everything. I figure the vinyl is only going to cost $70 bucks or so.
