I need some snow tires for my 740. I found a set on 850 wheels but turbobricks says they won't fit the rwd volvos without spacers but noone says why exactly. Will they rub on the shocks?

They share bolt pattern, however 850 FWD wheels are High offset - typically around 40 mm and RWD are medium - around 15-20 mm. They will likely rub.
Yea I knew the offset was different. I just didn't find anyone who said where they rub, how much, what thickness of spacers are needed, etc.
they will rub the struts at the very least. you're going to need a 15-20mm spacer. That's a lot of spacer. Junkyards are FULL of pre-96 RWD Volvos with wheels.
