I've been playing with building a Volvo for years. I've always been partial to the wagons though.
From looking around it's not easy to find a good selection of rims for the old 240s. It seems the way to go is buy some 25mm spacers and use rims for the 850/V70.

No the Fit is amazing for driving from point a to point b and anywhere in between. It also worked out very well at the Rolex last weekend fitting 3 coolers, 2 tents, a grill, sleeping bags, luggage, and other various items. And I can drive to and from UCF 3 times a week and not have to fill up my gas tank every other day like I did on the Trans Am.
I just think that would be a pretty cool project car/autox/or LS1 sleeper for drag racing.
The wheels are sick, I would like to put something like that on the Trans Am actually, if I could find the manufacturer, I would like to see if they make wheels in the proper size.
Girlfriends dad has a plain and simple bone stock, no clear coat left, mid 80s 240 and I believe he is the original owner. I do all the maintenance on it as well and I'm amazed at how simple they are for a European car. A co-worker of mine stole my license plate name idea for it though to put on his 91 E30 325.."DAS BRCK"
I put a 5 litre ford in my 87 240 wagon. Gutted, full cage, coilover front suspension. I embarassed alot of cars at the autox with that thing. There are no easy swaps for rwd wheels. Most likely a custom drill..
Wheels for the Trans Am...those are RWD :) Like I said I'd like to contact the peeps who make them and see what they have to offer.
Yearone has billet snowflakes that don't look as horrid as the originals but that would cost me over $3k....
OK....have I mentioned how much I hate the "what wheel" threads..
That 240 is badass....and I believe that the rims are from a racing company that has the word "dog" in it....maybe big dog....mad dog....something like that.
I had pics of that car saved until my computer crashed.....other than a turbo wagon, that would be my ultimate volvo.
Here is the build thread: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=64485&highlight=drift
Wheels are Kodiak Racing, it says they were about $500 a piece.
At least you were close with an animal related name.
And just to add to the previous pictures...

From what I remember, The Ford rims that work are the wrong offset. Taurus, sable etc., nothing exotic. When I was contemplating putting really wide rubber on the car, I was going to have Diamond drill me a set in the offset I wanted. I had no desire to use adaptors and spacers, but some people do.
well damn thanks for the info! Looks like CCW might be the cheapest way for me to go as far as the style of wheel I want. I just priced out wheels from there it would cost as much as a new shortblock and forged rotating assembly with more cubes for the Trans Am.
ANNNNNDDD it wasn't just a "what wheel thread" it was that is one sick looking Volvo. Should have kept teh flat black.
Besides there are so many freakin wheel manufacturers nowadays that it's inevitable to not have one every once in a wHile
