My son has a '96 Jetta. When you turn the steering wheel to a certain point, the horn sounds. He thought it was the column clock spring, so the two of us went down to the pick-n-pull, found a replacement and installed it. Problem NOT solved.
Anybody got any ideas?
locate horn, clip wire harness, hook up momentary switch.
HA!! Fixed!
Took it apart again this morning and found one of the little machine screws that holds the stalk assembly together had backed itself out enough to make contact with the power ring. Tightened screw, put it back together and...success.
