A car I've never come across. That doesn't happen terribly often, unless it's older. What is this oddity?

The Quantum Syncro in particular is basically an Audi 4000 Quattro wagon. They are totally awesome.
That plain ol' Quantum, on the other hand...diesel, but worth $500 tops looking like that. Flat tires? Really?
I wasn't considering buying it. Well, I was, but only for a second when I read "diesel," and then decided it was probably rusty, neglected, and slow as molasses. If it was a wagon...I may have been parting with some dollars at that point.

No, it is not a 4000 quattro.
Specifically, the QSW does not have struts in the back, it has trailing arms. And they're wider and longer and quite a bit heavier than a 4000.
But yes, it is totally awesome! All of the fuel economy of a bridge ported RX-7 and all of the speed of a worn-out Geo Metro, plus it has AWD to ensure that the half-dozen horsepower never manages to slip under any condition.
Very, very fortunately, it's a B-chassis from the firewall forward, so yes, whatever fits in a 4000 will fit in a QSW better.

There was a really nice syncro wagon for sale a few months ago. I really wanted it. Would be an ideal commuter car for a place like Denver. They're neat cars.
It will probably go through the rest of it's life without seeing another like it . . . it shall be dubbed THE QUANTUM OF SOLACE
