Hahaha

I actually had an '84 GTI, it was cool, but if I was in the market for one or the other, Id get an Omni. I am bored with VWs these days. Now what to do with all of the VW long blocks I am sitting on.

I do like the lego VW's. Part swapping is just so easy with them.

If you put Omni in that sentence it would make just as much if not MORE sense.

If you think it's good with VW, try it with the Omni. 11" 4-wheel discs, Maserati, Neon, Lotus DOHC heads, etc.

Exactly! My GLH has the engine from a Daytona, transmission from a minivan, fuel components from a 1st gen Viper, rear suspension components from a Cherokee, and on an on. Most of this was direct bolt-on, only the rear suspension required two little brackets to be made.

Not to mention a Cosworth head... On the Maserati engine....

Ok, I tallied up the votes in this thread. Here's how it adds up:
Omni - 89 votes VW - 1 vote

Looks pretty cut-and-dry folks!!

I let this run a couple of days due to both how close it was and I had to work..

the GTI squeaked in by a whisker (guess rabbit's feet are lucky)

Wait, you mean squeaked in as in won? Because i just went through this thread twice with a pen and paper and counted the omni ahead by 3 votes...

Omni's really have nothing going for them other than the GLH and GLHS models as far as I care. It was a poorly made knock-off of the rabbit.

I'm fairly certain everything from the 80s counts as poorly made.

as far as *I* care.

And that's why you only get one vote. If the voting was still open you'd have brought the GTI 25% closer to legitimately winning! 33% closer to tying, even!

Why does Chrysler make such ugly interiors?

When they were new, the GLH Turbo by a mile.
When they have more than 30K miles, the GTI because the GLH probably doesn't run anymore! My GLH turbo was driven hard but well maintained. Bought right off the showroom floor. First head gasket was 30K miles, second just under the 50K warranty limit, third at 55K. Rattled and shook by then, lived up to its name of fast trash.
