Rohrl driving a Carrera RS, I think (you don't see the car for very long) the wrong way around the Nordschleife.

On a wet track.

After it had snowed.

Thanks for sharing, glad I watched. I might share on another board but I'll quote you for some cross-board credit

Also, is it just me or does that Porsche slide funny? Is it that way with most RRs? He seems to hold the oversteer corrections longer than I would think would be needed and obviously he's doing it right

I would assume that if he lifts it will snap-oversteer.

That is the angriest sounding 911 I've ever heard. I need to change my pants now.

Very similar to my own philosophy. Accelerate until you see god, then turn

I'm guessing a 911 needs a bit more work to get the back end back in line thanks to the weight distribution. Looks like it was tough to get the front to bite as well. I'm certainly not going to argue with Walter

Thank you!

If anyone is interested I recently found a way to download YouTube vids as an mp4. This one is on its way to my hard drive right now.

I meant with the steering wheel

But anyway, great vid

Rohrl is genius behind the wheel.

For a perspective from the opposite end - WRC champ Loeb honing his skills with FWD, but with a lot of tail wagging:

The 911 vid is good, but you guys really need to see Herr Rohrl flying his group B Sport Quattro when he was with world rally championship. It's on "U toob" .

For more balls of steel driving, search the Youtubes for "Gobstopper Subaru."

That dude is an ANIMAL.

Gobstopper is impressive, but a bit ungainly. I don't think he managed to hit a single apex properly, but the power under his foot and the AWD grip helps make up for his lack of precision (though it may be part of the problem as well, heh)

I think a lot of the sloppiness is due to the relative insanity of the car itself. Sloppy or not, it takes a lot of skill to keep that car going at the rate that it goes in those videos.

Skill or not, huge iron testicles are definitely a part of the equation. Myself? I'd be scared E36 M3less to attempt to drive that thing at anything close to that rate, and i thrive on adrenaline and scary cars. I'm not fully satisfied until i'm in danger of soiling myself.

That car seems to be more akin to the Group B machines of yore, just on a closed racetrack.

That was great! I mostly watched Rohrl's face after a bit as I was struck by how relaxed it was. Occasionally he looks a slighly bemused it seemed to me but that was about it. Very impressive.

Wow! I watched this after the gobstopper stuff and there is no comparison IMHO. Rohrl is far more precise clipping apexes in a rally car on cart tracks than the obviously fast, talented, brave and all that Clark who bashes away at them on 100' wide baby butt smooth tarmac.

im gonna make a small sacrifice to the porsche gods tonight in thanks to whoever posted up that vid!

I spent half the video watching his foot work, not to shabby for a 60 year old dude, if i was even half as good as him, well, id be on my way to being him i guess...
