I hope this is a good place for this topic.. I've been a 'car guy' forever, and have gone to car shows/gatherings forever.. Like most, I have Covid-cabin fever, and I'm eyeing what to do once Covid passes.
I'm looking into entering tours/rallies (non-racing, muti-day driving 'events').. I want to not just sit and look at the cars (car show), but to get out and drive with fellow gear heads and go somewhere and do something.
I guess I'm asking for feedback/suggestions.. I can't do the high-dollar 6K-8K events, so I'm really after the regional, more affordable events.. I'm in CA, so I'm looking up the 'Snowball Rally," "Motherlode 400," and "Faultline 500," but the topic really works for any part of the country... ....Have you done a little, regional, 2-3 day driving event? Pros/cons? Worth your time/money? Is there a central website/info source on how to learn about these events? (I looked in the 'events' section above to no avail for this little niche I'm seeking).
Sorry if this has all been hashed out here before and I don't know it.. I don't get on this board very often, but I can't be the only one getting restless to get out and DRIVE my classic :-)
Also, it seems the type of car you bring matters- they tend to limit models and total entries.. for my part I'll be in a modded 1959 Berkeley which would seem to be accepted(?)
Thanks guys-

You have a 1959 Berkeley and rarely come here?
Please come more often and bring pictures!
As I totally internet stalk Mr. CC...
I have nothing to add, but am a huge fan of your work, Sir.
(something VFR800 something custom Miata suspension something)
I don't think I would be doing my job properly if I didn't mention our Classic Motorsports Road Tours.
I think your Berkeley would fit in pretty well.
It might be a little far for you, but the guys at Driving While Awesome run rallies that are more car-inclusive. I haven't done one but they seem fun.
I've also been attending this Breakfast Club Rally which is short - just a few hours of cruising around good roads in wine country - but it's been really fun, and a big eclectic mix of cars.
I haven't been able to find anywhere like motorsportreg for this kind of stuff, it seems like you just have to be plugged into your local car scene to find it. A lot of planning and advertisement happens on social media, particularly instagram.
I have done a couple with Express Rally, which runs mostly local to me in Arkansas, but they do a Western event once a year and are expanding all the time. The do both on and off road, but they do run a road rally called the Western Express. I believe it may be near you and typically a few day event runs about $1200 if I remember correctly. It includes your hotel and some cool video/photos taken by a camera crew that follows the whole thing. Not sure about the Western event, but the Southern one includes a track day at either Cresson MSR or Hallett and a few hours of karting. The rest is all "rally" on some nice roads.

PS:
Huge fan of your work. I keep an eye on your threads usually through Locost forum. The VFR/N600 is one of my favorites.
Thank you guys for the kind words and the leads for rally events .. It seems there's more out there than I was aware of! I think where I'm missing out is I'm not plugged into social media, and we moved recently, so I'm a bit of an outsider to the local car scene here on the CA central coast.. Hopefully this Covid thing lifts soon and I'll get out and circulate a bit with the locals... Also keeping an eye open to see if the rally organizers post 2021 events online..
Thanks again-
