Having had the privilege of knowing him in real life, I'm pretty shocked. Haven't seen him face to face in a few years, but....
My prayers are with his family.
I'm sad, and I didn't even actually know him. I just know he was an awesome part of this forum. 
This one hits hard, Walter has been a good friend of my wife and I, he was so positive and just a great man to have the privilege to call my friend.

Ouch! This hits home. Walter was an awesome friend. I loved autocrossing with him. Please let us know any memorial service announcements. I'm local and will plan to attend.
I tried reaching out to him this weekend without luck regarding a response and was fearing the worst. he was always a voice and ear for me to lean on when the fight has been difficult.
That sucks.
Walter made a lot of things better in everything he touched.
