they used to give kids rides around in the race cars at the dirt track we used to go to when i was a kid in the late 70's and early 80's.. they'd line up a bunch of race cars from the different classes on the front stretch before the first heat races, pile as many kids as they could in them, and they'd do a few (unfortunately) slow laps around the track like that... when you're 5, a ride in a real race car is about the coolest thing in the world- it's right up there with getting to sit on top of the fire truck to watch the races at the county fair because your dad is in the fire department..
One local track to me, has a small bus that rides around the track with kids in it as the next heat of cars come out and pass the bus. Kids love that.
