What's everyone's experiences with Weber IDFs in cold weather? I'm prepping my little Starlet's engine to take twin 40 IDF carbs. It currently has a Weber 38/38 which works quite well in all conditions but the allure of twin Webers is too much...

IDFs don't have a choke, correct? Are they functional in winter conditions? I'm fine with holding the idle open until the engine reaches temp...is that the only problem I'm going to encounter? The Starlet is a beast in the snow and I enjoy driving it--the LSD makes it awesome.

So, the question is--can I run twin IDFs in the winter?

Thanks, JP

They should have a manual enrichment circuit, similar to the DGFV.

Yes, IDF carbs have an enrichment circuit instead of a choke, just like DCOEs.

Hook it up to a manual choke control. Pull out, crank engine. Once started, push back in.

Well that sounds fantastic. I love Webers for some reason. I've become quite good at tuning the 38/38 and 32/36. It's now time to step up to something more serious.
