We have a couple of PT Cruisers for work cars(the suck, BTW, at ~65k the control arm bushings are already shot & we've had nothing but problems from the cars).
Just yesterday, one of the cars had some freaky stuff happening. The speedo/odo quit working....mostly - occasionally they would move momentarily, then go dead right away. Also, even though the turn signals are working, the indicator on the dash doesn't. All other gauges & dash lights work.
Here's the odd thing about the odo: It would still display the mileage, just not increment...until he stopped & pulled out the key, then it incremented by 1!
So I'm guessing we have either a bad ground, or loose connection. But has anyone seen this problem, or know these cars well enough to know where might be a good place to start?
Thanks!
Look into grounds first and foremost.

Haven't seen that one myself. We had only minor issues with ours, it's been great at 110K.

I look into the ground when I see a PT Cruiser coming too.
Well, even though we jumped the battery & had a full 13.5v on it, we couldn't even get the starter to click. Flat-towed it to a highly-recommended local auto electric shop. They checked it out, but said since it's an '06 there's not much they can do. They did suspect it's the gauge cluster, apparently it's a pretty common problem.
So it looks like I need to tow it over to the stealership & see how bad they rape us to diagnose this one...
thread title would have been accurate if you had left off the words electrical and problem.

yeah, never heard of that one, either. I know the early ones had a software issue for the dash controller, but I don't think that affected anything newer than '02. Woinder if it's linked to the ignition switch, like it is on all manner of Mercedes, BMWs, etc
My PT was still like new at 5 years and over 70k miles, and that was after a year of autocrossing heavily, and a lot of real cargo carrying work.
