I was on Motor Trend Radio this morning and got to plug the Web site. So if we have any new people here, welcome.

I'm not going to bash the other, "main-stream" mags but if there are any MTR listeners here, welcome and I hope you enjoy this unique automotive presence.

They were nice, and I had fun. We discussed the Ultimate Track Car Challenge, low-buck track cars, and vintage racing.

Sweet. I'm sure they were nice, I'd be shocked to hear otherwise. I'd love to hear about what MT readers would think about our little rag?

So, is this "internet for two" here tonight? Or are we just the only two that have, apparently no life to be sitting here on a Saturday night?

Did they ask stuff like:

How do you judge shift quality during the $200x challenge?

OK, nevermind - enough poking fun - glad to hear you guys were plugged.

So I guess that makes it "internet for three"

I've been reading Motor trend for.. i think 14 or 15 of my 25 years. It's the ONLY car magazine ive never let my subscription run out on, and ive tried a few. I think they are absolutely excellent at what they do.

Comparing GRM is tough. One thing that comes to mind right away is that while MT editorial sections at the front of the mag are very informative, GRM editorials feel more personal, as if talking directly to me, so i feel a kinship to the people at GRM just from reading their work. Otherwise i find comparing them extremely apples to oranges. I think MT is the best car mag in the world overall, but obviously poor at doing doing what GRM does. I think that GRM is the ONLY mag like GRM..I find myself being thankful that it even exists more often than i compare it to anything else. I hope that doesn't come across as negative, because i have a good time reading GRM. I have a much better time reading about projects and low-buck stuff than i do hearing about race results, but if i was in those results i may feel different, so im not complaining.

  • if you go to the right events you get to meet the members of the staff... not likely to meet many MT staff no matter where you go...

Well i went to $2009 and met David, Per, Scott, personally, but did not get a chance to talk to Tim since he checked out early. I probably talked to other staffers that i can not remember the names of.

But MT is no less a mag because i dont get to personally interact with its staff. They can do their jobs just fine without ever meeting me.

http://www.motortrend.com/features/laguna_lap/index.html got that in my email from them yesterday, was entertaining to just go over the rankings. The miata i want is at the bottom but at least its on there
