My favorite three cars can change from hour to hour day to day so I can't narrow it down. As long as I have a manual transmission wagon/hatch in the driveway I'm good. The Versa Note fills that pretty well. I could go crazy and list a bunch of bicycles that would fill the garage. In a perfect world, I'd get a motorcycle license and snag a Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Ok... if money is no object and I can only have three play cars (plus a utility vehicle or 2.. or 3?  An autocross car is a utility vehicle, right?).

1. My GT6 with all of the upgrade modifications I want to do to it, and maybe more of a sports car slant than the current plan.

2. The 1800ES with updates to a comfortable grand touring car.

3. A newer Bentley Continental Convertible.  For those times when I just want to cover long distances in coddling comfort and occasionally with the wind on my bald head. And when I don't feel like shifting.

I used to let people I know take out my 06 coupe. At ~600 crank HP it was semi controllable and I felt comfortable at the time. My Gen III convertible at 500 was a sweetheart of a car and about perfect for weekend use. New owner in the convertible still killed himself in the car after he bought it from me a few hours after taking possession.

The one I have now made 735hp at the wheel last time it was in for tune on pump gas and is a unforgivable hateful monster. I don't even feel comfortable in it on the street.

Also totally thought this was what three cars that you could actually own. Cost is no object on things that I have actually driven or been around to know I want them and could live with it for the next ten years.

  • The Green Grenade (Basically the most perfect hot rod I have ever seen)
  • RCR 917 for track.
  • Rolls Royce dawn black badge. (I really love these things and I will own a Dawn one day)

I've experienced that power level once, 697whp Terminator. I short shifted 1st, stabbed 1/4 throttle in 2nd, spun the tires, coasted to the next turn and gave the keys back to the owner. I just don't feel comfortable with that power level. He wanted to hear what it sounded like from the outside so he wasn't even in the car with me.

Well, this answer depends on the day, but for today this is it: The AM for my wife, the 365GTB for me, and the IH for both of us.

This is hard. I want to cover luxury, sport, off-road, and utility. I'd like electric, convertible, hardtop, automatic, manual, awd, rwd. Roadtrips, grocery trips, urban parking and off-grid overlanding.

Tesla Cybertruck

It should have some off-road capability, it's an automatic, it should handle towing and carrying lumber, and there is no need to work a third pedal. Plus, I think I trust Tesla to get this right more than the other brands coming down the line. Spec mine with bioweapon defense mode because obvious reasons.

2019 Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner

This has a slushbox, but brings gas, which is great for long road trips, particularly when I drive back to Louisiana to visit. The car has a tiny chunk of the seat of one of the original Bentley Blower race cars embedded in the dash, the awesome green paint and number nine grille. Since 2019 is in the past, I may just have to have a similar car commissioned, which isn't a total loss as I can have it made vegan.

Singer 911 Targa

And finally, since I want the convertible, track and autocross, and a manual, I'd commission a Singer 911 targa. Perhaps Mexico Blue and Pepita?

I put this question to my wife.

She said, R53 MINI Cooper S (red with white hood stripes,) her yellow 2012 Focus for the sake of nostalgia, and a Miata.

Apparently she likes 4 cylinders.

I am pretty happy with my current lineup.

I would change a few things.  I would like the correct turbocharged engine for my corvair.

I would like to do a nice 3 inch lift on the 4runner and swap out the 265/75's for a set of 285/75's.

I would like a different set of wheels for the m coupe.

I have two of the three now.

The Formula 500 is loads of fun and I enjoy it every time I drive it.

The Datsun is great fun it just needs a motor that makes around 175hp.

For my third, if I'm practical, it would be a 4wd version of my camper van. For less practical I'd love a 356 but if I can have that I'll go with a new Miata.

If we're going for total fantasy land then I want a Lancia 037, Delta Intagrale and some kind of 80s AMG 4 door.

Funny you should ask, I just decided this question myself a few days ago.

1) A truck, 2500, 4x4, extra or crew cab is a bonus. Undecided on brand.

2) A daily / autocross beater might wind up being Gerti (Grand Maquis). << most optional

3) My current Challenge build.

Right now I have too many cars laying around getting in each others way.

I didn't know we were doing "real world."

It wasn't specified but I feel like I what we have in the real world is pretty damn close to ideal, so might as well use it!

From what we have the only changes might be an e63 wagon instead of the e400 and a GLS63 or eco boost Navigator instead of the Suburban

I can't even.. taking the daily and tow vehicle exemption here we go and subject to change at any moment.

Car 1: I would have a hard time choosing which boutique 911 I got Singer , RUF, Rau Welt?

Car 2:  My beloved, under powered and well well worn track car 1989 Civic Si, been with me 20 years

Car 3: Maybe for old times sake...Type 181

I kinda went nuts above, so I'm going to try going for something I can afford. Let's say my garage caught fire, and I have to replace the current fleet with three.

An early fifth-gen 4Runner, because my wife loves her fourth-gen.

Second generation Chevy Volt, because we loved the first gen we leased in 2012.

And an early 986 Boxster because it's better at being fast than I am, it's cheap, and I can add a roof rack, hard top, and a Porsche PCCM Plus nav system over time to make it as practical as I like. Nephrite green interior please, and Dyno wheels. Radwood eligiblity, and a factory Android Auto head unit... what's not to like?

PORSCHE Boxster (986) specs & photos - 1996, 1997, 1998 ...

Anyway to retro fit a Datsun ( Nissan) 4 cylinder with carbs and a distributor?  That has the required power?  Al lot of the vintage groups are getting a lot less picky about stuff under the hood. Maybe you can grind the Nissan Off and throw a Datsun decal over it?
Late in the 90's they put a much later  Maserati (Ferrari) V8 in a late 50's Maserati 500S  got invites all over even to select events like Laguna Seca.
All the rest of us in the group just kinda shut our mouths since they were using Ex NASCAR 350's with just a little retro fitting where 283Chevy's should have been

Everyone needs an E type and rag top, so:

Jaguar E-type Roadster – Amalgam Collection

And because 2020 has been such a dumpster fire:

Just like this:

only with different wheels and painted lexus graphite grey pearl and with the rear placards feeding a pair of radiators. Not all liveried up like this one.

maybe a hemmt based overland camper

And as far as a plane goes, I'll take a pby catalina. I think I'd name her Serenity.

Between the hemmt and the catalina, I'd just live in them. No need for a house.

My first grown up job was at a BMW dealer on my first day a shiny new 08 335i sedan was my first new car prep on that day I fell in love. Eight years and a few dozen massive life changes later I stop to look at a C5 z06 the local BMW dealer had put out front just in time to see this beauty be driven around to the used car holding pen, fifteen minutes later it was mine. 07 335i 6mt premium package, cold weather package, sport package, no iDrive it's literally perfect. I've put 100k on it in four years it belts off 11.50 1/4mi with the heated seat and the A/C on, hauls people and lumber with the same ease, and it's led me to meet so many amazing people.

Epic tow beast... 04 Yukon XL 2500 6.0. The newest addition to my fleet and I can't say enough about it. Very few vehicles are as good as you expect them to be this one is. It's boring but that's the most important part of a tow vehicle for me.

Gotta have a crazy racecar right? 2019 was not a kind year to me after my intended challenge car (and most of my life) was destroyed by a shop fire. The only real highlight was meeting a very impressive woman who likes Hondas in particular kinda ratchet turbo EF Hondas (as it turns out she likes a very specific BMW a little more) when I found this thing a few days before the Challenge I knew it was meant to be. My best challenge finish to date and something to bond over I can't not love this piece of junk. Shortly thereafter I learned a good friend and his ex wife built it specifically for the $2001 challenge. It's like a bizzaro world Dr. Love

There you have it the secret to happiness is low expectations and the occasional flare of good luck. That said I wouldn't be upset if there was an RS America in the driveway.

I'll keep my truck

my commute attack mr2

and add my old supra. A 94 hardtop 1a1 (anthracite metallic ) maybe with a itb 1gz v12 swap. This isn't mine, I dont have any good quality pics of it :-/

or an aqualu aluminum fj40 body on an 80 chassis (they make one specifically to bolt on to an 80 frame). Like this only not a pickup
