I was just on my local CL and was surprised to see 2 cars listed for nearly the same price ($5500 + or - a few bucks). But then again, big bucks luxo sedan lose so much in depreciation...

A 2000 "New" Beetle and a 1999 Jag XJ8. Consider the "demographics" of the local population, I imagine that the Jag is already gone and the Beetle sits for a long time.

Consider the reps of both manufacturers, I'm not sure either would be a bargain.

This happens all the time. Big luxury car buyers and used car buyers are two groups that rarely overlap. It's not uncommon for BMW 3-series values to be roughly equivalent to same year 7-series values after 6 or 7 years, despite the fact that the original price of the 7 might have been as much as 3 times higher.

Here's a good one for ya: '03 Mini Cooper S '03 BMW 540i

What's that, BMW? You're worried about the Mini cannibalizing the low end of 3-series sales? Give it just a few years and they're worth as much as the flagship 5-series!
