My least favorite rx7. FD or 1984/5 fb/sa with the 13b would be preferred

I spend a good amount of time on mr2oc actually. It has been helpful, but the quality and reliability of things there are questionable at best. More than a few have been ripped off, though I have done well there. However, things like the power window fuse are not easy to track down and I have less time to sort through the forums to locate parts nowadays.

If I keep the mr2, the plan would be three possible things

Stage 1: trd front sway, koni adjustables, new stock clutch,,upgrades brake pads, 15 inch wheels and I have my ES car - this is done except the clutch and I have trd springs for the car as well.

Stage 2: vinyl wrap or paint diy in my garage, more aggressive regrind of the 5sfe cam, 3sfe header from a rav4 with a bung welded on, turbo exhaust, short shift kit.

Stage 3: new paint, convert interior to leather, fix the mirrors, new bushings and control arms, turbo brake upgrade, 1mz or 2gr v6 engine swap.

I don't think option 3 is worth it given the value of the car, but I am considering stage 2. Thoughts?

Another vote to keep the sw20, the z32 is a PITA, I'm a z dork, I presently own an S30, Z31 and Z33, wouldn't own another Z32 if you paid me.

1MZ swap is pretty straightforward and a lot of fun. I'd go that route before I did anything to the 5S. I didn't love the TRD bar, but there's only so much you can do for ES. Is your car a 93+, or have they changed the rules to allow plus sized wheels?

Usually the cloth interior wears pretty well. I swapped a passenger seat onto the drivers sliders on my last low-buck SW20 refresh. The pass seat bottom bolts up, then you unzip and clip a few hog rings and you can swap the upper cover from a passenger seat onto the driver seat back.

Last I read I think now that e-stock is e-street I can do a +1 tire, but even 15s are hard to find a good size for. I was thinking 17s for the street (g35 rims, maybe).

I only need the drivers side seat back fixed slightly as it is ripping at the seam. The rest of the interior is mint. I just hate the look of the cloth. It the exterior that needs a lot of attention.

I guess I am keeping the mr2 for now. The mild improvements to the 5sfe (cam, header exhaust) are mostly to get the character of a free revving engine than a ton of power.

photo IMG_20150603_184435789_zps0uah6icl.jpg I'm potentially readying myself to do a Gen 4 swap in my '91 Gen 2 swapped car. Keep the MR2!!!

5S won't rev. They just won't. By the time you put in the headwork necessary to marginally improve that, the economics of an engine swap make more sense. I did a Gen3 swap before Gen4 swaps were a thing -- 292rwhp, stock. I think the rev limiter on the was north of 7500rpm, too.

I've had good luck on MR2OC, but I hear you. Actually I think it might be more of a reflection of the general state of the parts industry for MR2s - it's very much a cottage industry producing parts of, err, "variable" quality made by enthusiasts. Plus I'm getting the impression that SW20 owners (and AW11 owners) seem to be at least as cheap as 2nd gen RX7 owners and aren't necessarily willing to pay more for higher quality parts.
