I'm a little larger in the middle than I was when I last ran a Lemons race. I'm finding most one piece fire suits fit the top and bottom of me, but not so much in the middle. With that in mind, I'm considering a 2 piece suit.
I've stayed away from them in the past because a burned strip around the middle sounds painful. Is that actually a problem or is it just me overthinking the issue?
Anyone have any experience with them?
I ran one for a few years in lemons.
Now I have a 1 piece suit of good quality and it is night and day better.
The protection is okay, they are just uncomfortable. The back of the jacket WILL ride up and bunch up.
I wouldn't do it, seems like subpar protection.
I have a two piece from RaceImage.

They are custom made for team members, you just have to find one that is your size. There are a few crew members that are my size so I have decent options. Plus these are very expensive suits, washable and very comfortable.
I have no issues with mine.
Two piece suit is not legal by state law if you race in New Jersey. I had to buy one at the track to comply in 1985 when I first ran there.
I love having a two piece mainly because it's easier to wear half of it in warmer temps.
Firefighting suits are also 2 piece and I never had any issues getting burned around my midsection when I was wearing one of them.
