Aside from the obvious hunting specifically for a car brand/make, I like to see what pops up under various more obscure terms.
Recaro / Koni / lowrider / raced / project / etc.
Maybe this gives away a few of your secrets, but I know there's enough CL addicts on the board that you have your own arsenal to sift for gold. 
How do you hunt?

wrecked, totaled, or, with the 1975 or earlier filter on: BMW, Volvo, Studebaker, Fiat, Corvair. Occasionally I'll try and be sly and go for alternate spellings. There's always listings under Alfa Romero, Porsh or such. Interestingly, the dummys who misspell the name of their car often think that it's worth more than it is.
Project, wagon, race, british are ones I use. Also, mostly for fun I like to use rare. That search usually comes with a lot of 3 year old Camrys and ram trucks. Sometimes it finds things that are actually rare, but it's not a good bet.
I like the new check boxes, manual, rwd are starting points, manual and searching "turbo" is as well.
