Nearly any kitcar, especially if they are based on semi-decent donors.
An early 90's Civic hatchback, with a more modern Honda FWD (K20 makes sense) dropped in the back. I absolutely don't have the time to do it, and I probably don't have the skills to do it nicely, but I think about it often.

100mph in a boat!! Tell more including testicular storage, how many lives you have (hasd?) and how many years chiropractic care you needed after hitting the first ripple at that speed. What was the cost for a replacement spine after the first wave?

That sounds like a great idea.

Not gonna lie, I read this as Patrick and said to myself "Don't you already own half of this E36 M3? "
NOHOME said:Is that an early skater? First boat that took me to over 100 mph. Also introduced me to the unique feel of a tunnel hull on rough water. Lots of neat ways for things to go way wrong when trimming these out at high speed.
Go for it!
I have no idea as the smart side of my brain said walk away, walk away.

There's a very rust free Festiva for sale in Hershey PA for donor shell price (less than a grand)
I have driven by this at least once a week for 20 years and haven't yet stopped by to ask about it, but sure would like to. It is parked under a semi trailer, so who knows, MAY not be totally rotted out...
I have been tempted to enter all the following in The Challenge:
The main thing holding me back is that I really don't want to own any of them for longer than the event weekend. Strangely, I have no particular love for Chrysler products
I keep looking at cheap mid-2000s Audis on CL.
There is nothing cheap about a 3rd or 4th hand European sport sedan but yet I still look. Morbid curiosity maybe? Definitely a bad idea.

now we're talking!
I keep having fantasies about stretching a cj-7 to be a scrambler. Then I upgrade the frame and axels to make it a little more stable. But stability adds weight and wind resistance.... so I might need more power. All of this is will require money...., and just think of the time!
then I realize it would be easier to just buy a new one and get bonus doors.....
i have enough projects anyway.
Using a smartcar drivetrain in something. Probably Fiat of some kind.
Alternatively, modding a smart for track days. No seriously.
I am living everyone else' bad dream, I daily drive my shaggy X1/9 whenever the weather is cool enough to forgo A/C.
Just about everything i do.
lop the body off a c5 and the guts out of a corvair and combine them?
take a rear engine car and make it a front engine straight axle gasser?
rescue a 1 of 11 racecar and vow to restore it and actually source the parts?
rwd LS swap a gm fwd grand prix?
chop a camaro stock car off its tube chassis and make it a 40 chevy truck?
take a 2wd astro and do a 3/4 ton solid axle 4x4 and v8 conversion?
so yeah, basically everything i do. When i get to the 57 chevy it's going to be boring, they make everything i need. I could literally fabricate nothing.
i still want to rwd v8 a lumina Z34 or a Celebrity Eurosport VR
SuperDave said:There is a TR-6 sitting under a shed nearby. It's been there at least ten years. Vines have started up the passenger side front fender. I have so far resisted the urge to stop and ask the question.
Refresh the NA8 (225,000 miles). Repaint to the original color, New carpet, seat covers. 14" inch steel wheels with an appropriate chrome dog dish hubcap. Was my daily driver until retirement. Currently a $ 1,000.00 car. Maybe.
Rebuild the 250 I6 (175,000 miles) in the '68 C-10. Spend vast sums of money to drag 250 HP out of it. Instead of swapping in a junkyard LS for way less money. Not to mention a transmission upgrade.
Repaint the '88 Suburban (122,000 miles) Original paint is worn through and I have the idea this 16 MPG dinosaur could pass as a daily driver for Mrs. SuperDave when her Odyssey ('09 w/220,000 + miles) gives up.
Fortunately any funds available for these worthy projects was spent late last week for the purchase of a new boat.
Dodged a bullet on that didn't I.
Okay, so you look at buying a boat as a way of avoiding bad financial decisions?
We should be friends.
