This is completely out of left field, but I swear the coolest new cars I saw run up the hill at Goodwood this summer were the Morgan 3 Wheelers. Well within your budget and like absolutely nothing else on the road.
I have had some really hard core daily's but a three wheel Morgan will kick my ass and call me Nancy. Thats coming from a guy who DD a 356 outlaw for 8 months.
Datsun1500 wrote: Audi S5 is pretty small. I had a vantage coupe which was very nice, much nicer than the convertible. It went away for an 08 R8. They are down below 80k now, for the coupe.
Thoughts on the R8? I absolutely love their looks and, if I had the money, I'd be hard pressed to decide between that and the Carrera S I've always wanted.
The R8 is an amazing package - exotic looks and handling at Audi prices. I only got a handfull of laps behind the wheel with one, but I was suitably impressed. Porsches are everywhere these days, but everyone notices the R8. If you can swing the purchase price, that would be a no-brainer in my book. I've only been able to find two in the country currently advertised for under $85K (& they look like scams), but we've been advised that they trade less at auction. Have a contact in the trade?
The R8 would be a million times better looking without the lite brites in the headlamps. Maybe if they were a beam of light instead of individual LED's. They just look so cheap and cheesy, as if they tried to copy the BMW angel eyes with only $6 and a radio shack avaliable.
It is amazing how that one detail makes me despise an otherwise stunning car.
It's been mentioned, but I'll bring it up again. I work in a garage that also houses a Maserati GranTurismo. I've gotten to move it around the yard a bit when necessary, and good god does it sound good. Even just firing it up, almost enough to make you have a crisis. At low speeds (sorry, no test drives) the flappy-paddle gearbox is a pain.
It seems to be a big, comfortable cruiser, is probably in your price range, and should be quite fun.
wearymicrobe wrote: Quick call they have that one for sale at 98K which is to much for that specific car, they do have a while aeromax coming in at 197K which is way outside of the ballpark.
Any chance you could extend the budget for the Aeromax?
Stunning cars .
What kind of TVR does $75K get you into?
R8 seems to be winning but in reality it would be hard to find one in my price point. 90ish seems to be the going rate for a good V8 car in a good color. Might sit on the cash for a month or two and try and find a Morgan, would mean keeping the hateful Mini around.
Going to drive the XKR this weekend and see if I like it. Need to do some research on the 4.2 motors to see how reliable they are. 911S cab is the clear no thought pick but they still are a little clinical for me.
If I actually sell, deposit taken, the Model A that would give me another 25K or so to play with.
So many cars in this thread! Like a dork, I had to make a list:
Requirements:
Big luxury GT, under $75K, two years old, preferably convertible.
Sick of the firm ride, cheap interior and lack of power in current daily driver.
Short List:
Acura NSX - good option, too old?
Audi R8 - good option, too expensive?
Bentley Continental GT - liked, but not convertible, back seats useless
* Bentley Continental Flying Spur - liked, but not a high-style GT
* Jaguar XK/XKR convertable - good option, will test drive
Morgan Aero 8 - always wanted one, too expensive?

nderwater: to pick a nit, I was pretty sure the Daytona Coupe pictured was an FFR Type 65 Coupe, not a Superformace Coupe.
Joshua: I really doubt you'll find a used Boss on the market just yet, and even then, the GT500 is a much better match to what the OP is looking for.

I'm sure he can get someone to cover everything in leather made from butter and unicorn farts. He'd have plenty of $$$ left over anyway.

Reformatted in easier to read list as was intended by original poster.
A quirk of this board is that you have to put two spaced at the end on a line before starting the new line if you intend for it to be single spaced.
Thanks - I tried reformatting that post five times and still couldn't remember how to get the bullets to work.

good on ya. and you never buy new cars. there you go folks...that's how you get a leg up on the system. Debt is the first step toward slavery.

yeah, but car ownership has got to be the third or fourth step toward slavery
It has been noted previously in this thread but WOW what a car.
Have you looked at the porsche 4 door 928 replacement? I bet you could get a well optioned (with the turbo motor) used in the 80k range. While not avert it will eat the miles up quite nicely.
