Got into a Vantage V8 today, 6 speed. Silver exterior, its a stunner of a car. But in no way shape or form do I fit in it. You need to be 5' 8 and sub 150 to be comfortable.

Have a XKR ride setup for later this weekend.

Thats almost to a tee what I am. I have really long legs though.

When its in motion it feels a lot bigger which is weird. The upper pillar makes the car seem lower then it really is. It's well within budget though and I could get used to the smaller size. They have a 07 British racing green, black interior, 6 speed for about 65K coming in soon. The darker interior makes it seem less claustrophobic at least in the DB9

Need to think it over, its a lot of cash. The BRG color seems to lower pricing on the Vantage. Its now at the top of the list after a test drive and some thought.. Biggest thing is the sport suspension on these guys is STIFF, will have to find one without it.

Around these parts, Audi's are the douchemobile of choice. A lot less pricks, a whole lot more VAG's

Actually a very nice car. Pretty much a supercar that can be a daily driver if you wanted to. Rides well, no $7,000 engine out services, etc. The main issue is there does not seem to be any of the negatives of driving a high dollar car stereotypes when you go places. Pull up in an Aston, Ferrari, Lambo, even 911 and you are thought of as "The shiny happy person in the......" This seems to just let people know you are a car guy. It seems like people will ask you about it, not want to key it..

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback. I'd love to get a ride in one some day.

Green. Silver is laaaaaaaame. And honestly, how many people can say they own a green car, let alone one done in BRG?!

BRG. Why would anyone buy a Aston Martin or Jaguar in silver?

BRG. Classic British heritage, classic british color. Can't go wrong. Tell me it has some sort of saddle tan interior.

Solid black interior, the BRG and saddle cars are worth even less but in my mind are the ones to have. Going to make a few calls and see if I can track one down.

Also not a single sale of a 07/06 Vantage on eBay that I can see. I have no real idea of pricing. I need to find someone with access to Mannheim to get a clearer idea.

One of those could be pink and it would still be sweet. BRG and black would be my vote just because I am not a fan of light interior.

As an added bonus those cars sound as good as they look.

How about 100 1993 Ford Escorts, exclusively the pink and turquoise ones. Then park them round about the country, so wherever you are you're never far from one of your cars. That's two per state! Though I'd consider letting Rhode Island and Connecticut and Massachusetts and Delaware share, and increasing your Escort density in California and Texas.

You'd only really need 1 in Hawaii, but you'd need to sprinkle extra through the midwest to account for tin worm.

Think I sold the 28' roadster today, which will free up a bit more cash, might even be able to swing a Vantage S / R8 if I really really look hard. Traveling for the rest of the week so lots of time to dig on the internet while stuck in transit. .

Having spent a little time with both, I must say that I'm surprised to hear that the Vantage is still in the running with the R8. The Aston is a pretty car, but for the money I didn't find it particularly impressive to drive.

When you have a moment to spare, I'd really like to see a list of the cars that both of you guys (wearymicrobe, Datsun1500) have owned. I'm sure that the rest of us dreamers would love to quiz you about what some of these more rarefied cars are like to actually live with every day.

56 cars here in the last 13 years.

From Mini Cooper's to ACR vipers, to a 65 Shelby Cobra, and everything in-between.

The biggest thing is I fluctuate between something pedestrian for a DD and something batE36 M3 crazy but lower cost for the weekend, or a single all purpose car regardless of price.

I am trying to go back to the one car mentality makes it easier to move things around and I am I currently have a very small two car garage. I could care less about outright speed, its more the feel of the car that I like. A single mindedness towards a specific feature or function. A idea would be the lotus elise, I like that it sacrifices everything for handling. I like prowlers because they were designed by a smal group to be a lightweight modern material 32. I like my 28 ford that I have now because it is built exactly like the 50's rods that I admire, handling warts and all.

Biotech, plus I buy and sell classic cars on the side for resale. Also some external design work with friends on small biotechy items. Biggest thing is I never went to school never went into debt, never really had any loans, really never even had a credit card. Just my wife and I no kids, she has a similar background and income. Been working ful time since I was 15, surprised I made it out of HS.

I take it that he took the most of what the baby boomers generation afforded said generation and made out well. Congrats to him!

Presumably at his age/married with no kid(s), he is avoiding (multiples of) $200k a pop not including education to raise said kid(s) to the age of 18.
