So I am reading the topic by maschinenbau about scoring the ITBs off an E46M3 at the boneyard.
And as I am looking at a picture of the engine I have a random thought of "Hey, that is kind of like a Slant 6"
So if someone put a BMW 6 in a Chrysler product, would that be the combination of a great engine in a bad chassis or what?
I don’t see how a hot toddler slant 6 could be a bad idea.
Awkward autocorrect. Hotrodded slant 6
At one time the /6 was used in racing and many parts were available.

Oh E36 M3. Now Wally is posting about hot toddlers!
A BMW inline six, in a Prowler, might be a good start.
The inverse has been done so I think you should go for it.

Having owned both a metric assload of slant 6s, and a bmw m52tu, i have to say the slant 6 was better in most ways.
The bmw has a bit more power than the stock super 6 (2bbl, little better cam and exhaust slant 6), similar idle quality, and similar fuel economy (99 528i automatic wagon 19-23mpg vs 72 duster automatic 18-20 mpg).
However, the 4bbl and cammed and header that we swapped in that duster ran HARD.....
I would love to see (and hear) a cammed ITB slant six. Talk about a leaning tower of power!

Whenever referring to built engines in the future, I will use the phrase "hot toddler" now....

Good for you for not editing this out. Got a good laugh tonight!
A builder local to me built a turbo Slant Six for his Studebaker truck.

I was thinking literally the exact same thing.

And in a thread titled "What can I possibly be thinking?"
It was meant to be...
If i recall correctly, hot rod magazine did a story on how much abuse a slant 6 Chrysler engine could actually take. It was basically them doing their damndest to blow one up. After several failed attempts to hurt it, the story culminated in them draining the oil and making multiple quarter mile passes on huge shots of nitrous. They broke or bent some rods and still drove it on the trailer.
Looks like I’ll be on another watchlist.
In reply to gearheadmb :
Only catastrophic failure of one ive ever personally seen was one that was attempted to be run on nitromethane
Some Chrysler chassis designs have potential for track fun. In Trans Am, Darts, Barracudas, and Challengers won races in the over-2-liter class (The first race (>2L) was won with a Dart). A '69 Valiant did well in One Lap of America once or twice.
