What car; high depreciation big bang for the buck edition

I'm starting to think about what my next daily driver should be. Current ride is a 2009 Saab 9-3. This has been a great car and was a bargain; I bought it nearly 4 years ago for under $10K CAD with 69000 KM on the clock. Not bad for a car that sold new for nearly $40k. It's been pretty much bulletproof.

Is there anything of comparable performance and comfort 2012 or newer that would be of similar value? I realize the Saab was an outlier since they had recently gone belly up. Oh, and one more thing. The Saab is rated to tow 1800KG/3500LBS in North America. I know there's almost no chance of finding a similar car but a UK rated 1800KG tow would work for me.

In all honesty, the Jaguar XF-R is a ton of car for the money.

When you sell the Saab, let me know!

Lincoln has some notorious levels of depreciation. Maybe a MKS, the big sedan, which can also be equipped with ecoBoost and awd. 

Infiniti too like an M35, M45, or M56 sedan. 

What about a Kia Cadenza or Hyundai Azera, Genesis sedan?  They are full of luxury and depreciate awful quick.  Plus, the V8 Gensis sedan is a rocket.  So is the Equus.

Cotton's ridiculous twin-turbo V12 Mercedes thread comes to mind

There's a Maserati Coupe at our local Toyota dealer right now for $10k.  Not sure what it's tow rating is however.

Hahah. I love the fact someone drove that car 214,000 miles. That's gotta be the highest mileage Maserati Coupe ever.

Any expensive car with a lot of tech is an electronic nightmare waiting to happen.

I am currently looking into my options as far as buying that 200k mile Maserati.. 

I wish my 996 had 200k miles. 78k to go, i guess!

Not newer than 2012, but way better reliability than SAABs had:

Rated to tow 3300lb in the US, too.  So probably 10,000lb in the UK.

Anvil-like reliability, with the possible exception of the suspension system, which seems to be more sensors getting knocked akilter than actual faults.  '04-05 are very cheap, I seem to see them go for $2-3k.   The '06-07 models have a FAR more robust transmission and AWD system, including the Internet-buttmonkey angle drive.  They're priced accordingly.  There's an '07 near me listed at $15k but there are deals to be had if you're patient.

I have been frantically trying to look this up,  but their stupid website isn’t working.  How am I supposed to enable myself with bad cheap exotics if the internets wont even help me??

Also,  NickD has a good point.  Both my 2003 s600 and 2003 cl600 had crazy depreciation. I paid around 5500 for the S and 3k for the CL,  both with the twin turbo v12s.  I bought the cL from the original owner and he paid just over 140k new iirc,  said he bought it off the showroom floor,  then had it dealer serviced up until 2014 or so,  so there is no telling what he had in it all in.  That didn’t faze him from buying another v12 Benz,  an sl65 AMG,  so I sure hope he calls me when he’s ready to let that one go.

Shhh gah damn I'm trying to sneak into one of these

I was recently shopping for a first car for my daughter.  Her requirements were a red convertible with tan canvas top, tan interior, automatic, safe, reliable, back seat and map pockets.  Came down to a Solara that ticked all the boxes and a blue XK8 convertible.  XK was newer, had less miles, was in better shape, and generally lived a pampered life.  It was also cheaper than the Solara that she decided on.  Luckily the second child has graciously agreed to let me buy her a Jaguar for her first car.  There is one in Ct for $3800 that caught my eyes, but she isn't ready for a car just yet.

The Maserati is a full up manual transmission car and not bad looking considering the mileage.  217k miles is a lot for what amounts to a Ferrari engine.

I'm sure that you can have that Maserati towed for the same price as any other car.

Someone tell me more about these depreciated Jag XFs.... I see a few in my area that are 4-5 years old with low miles in the mid teens. VERY tempting

As it's an exotic Italian car, I would expect that the tow rating tells you how much the vehicle you'll have to tow it with needs to be able to tow?

2014 Volvo S60 AWD sedan.  At least, according to the dealer I traded it to for my truck.
