My point was "powerful" does not necessarily mean "more powerful than average". Especially with modern transmissions - the current Grand Cherokee makes less power than my wife's 2000-model GC, but it uses that power much more effectively and feels stronger for it.
Okay, maybe I was using a simplistic aapproach but in the world of 4cyl, 6cyl, 8cyl I was making an assumption that Pat would really like an 8cyl (or 8cyl-like output from the 6cyl turbo, Ecoboot he referenced earlier.) I made the assumption that 4cyl would be considered too small and at the minimum, he would like a 6cyl.
I think we're generally agreeing that any GC engine would be larger than the engines in the Mazdas that I originally recommended; a recommendation that I then retracted for Pat. They are recommendations that more meet my needs and requirements but I suspect they do not meet Pat's.
Looks like Edge has already been suggested. A few people I work with have them and like them.
If you like you can check out my wife's Odyssey before we turn it in in the next few weeks. No clue how they compare to the Caravan now.
My MIL has a CRV, it looks tiny inside for car seats or carrying large kid stuff like strollers, toys, etc.
The cx5 has really tiny door openings on the rear. I rented one and had a hell of a time fitting the kids seats.
