Well the ram-mount suction cup failed twice in two days already... not impressed. Tried to stick it on again this morning and I barely pulled, fell off again. Already in for the $ might as well check that clip for it now.
Wow, mine has been perfect in daily use for a few years, even on track, and has never let go.

Is the glass curvature significant on the Abarth?
Could be that the suction cup is having a hard time finding a "flat spot" on the glass.

This one's on the WRX, in the left corner. Maybe I'll try to use it in the center.
Depending on how permanent you want it to be, a little clear silicone around the lip of the suction cup before you put it on can help a lot.
I usually wet the suction cup slightly, then press it down hard while holding the lock over in the full-loose position, then rotate the lock to create suction. I've never had it fall off but my windshields pretty flat. Also make sure the window is clean, like with rubbing alcohol, for best adhesion. Tint can also be a problem.
For my phone, I use either my crotch or the console cupholder.

i took the b base and epoxied a spring mount to it to hold the phone. i have used different phone holders on my mount. a magnet one a very large multi jaw, and a very small quare clamp thing. each gets epoxied to a ram diamond ball.

my wife has a double suction cup ram because nothing would stick to the windshield of her car.
hint look for used ram stuff on ebay then mix and match as needed. and amazon has the best price around on ram stuff.

I may do that this weekend. Forecast looks like a lot rain, might as well experiment in the garage. (In between working on stormtrooper armor pieces.)

I’m old school. I can look at a map beforehand and then drive there. If it gets difficult I will pull over and check google maps. I don’t like devices that talk to me And a lot of times navigation programs pick less than ideal routes. It was a shock to me that service stations no longer carry paper maps.... WTF.
It isn't the route, it is the traffic. Google Maps and Waze tell me real-time traffic. I use it every day for to and from work--not because I don't know how to get there, but because I know 5 different routes that are within 15 minutes of each other without traffic (20-35 minutes), but can be an hours difference with traffic. And some have tolls. So I load up the app, it tells me exactly how long its going to get home on 3 different routes and I can adjust accordingly. Last Wednesday it saved me probably 45 minutes because my normal route had an accident.

Same here. Waze increases my situational awareness, and not just of traffic, but also police, accidents, objects in the road, etc. I keep it muted, though, as I'm usually listening to podcasts.
Cell phone holder? All my pants have pockets.
Another vote here for the scosche magic mount, I got the 2 pack at Costco for ~30$. My phone hasn't fallen off in 3 years of daily use. Waze is indispensable on long trips.

Went out to try to use silicone to give it some extra sticky, and the whole base unit with the twist knob and suction cup fell apart into 4 pieces in my lap. What a total piece of crap.
EDIT: apparently I didn't buy it from RAM, but instead some dude on Amazon with many other feedback comments about counterfeit junk failing two months later.
I have been using the "Steelie" Ball and magnet for about 4 years now. I have on in each of my 4 cars. Placed the ball on the center console and the little magnet on both my phone and the SWMBO's phone.
Since the magnet is pretty strong, and I'm around cars all the time, it's easy to stick my phone to a fender while I work.

How well does this hold the phone?
Driving a large semi-truck for work, harsh ride, and although I see them pop up regularly I am skeptical if they will hold a phone with all the bumps/ rough riding.
Thoughts?
The part with the ball on it screwed to your suction cup part should be able to screw directly to the proclip base, so you won't need the part i linked to earlier. I think you did get a fake part; the suction cup part of the real Ram mounts i have don't disassemble that way.
I use a suction cup mount from 5 below. Vent mounts don’t work in my civic as the vents are too steeply angled to have the phone readable.
in the land cruiser i run a cd slot mount one. The subaru has AA so i dont it there and i put it in the cup holder area if i use it in the miata.
