GRM brain trust, assemble!
For those who don't like japanese alphabet soup:
3.3L boxer 6, 230 hp from the subaru SVX
dohc, with gear driven (exhaust?) cams
non interference motor
bolts up to any subaru transmission
I'll just say 914 first to get that one out of the way.
Maybe in the bed of some old truck like a datsun?
Would prefer it to be insane and summer only friendly.

you could drop it off in NJ and I'll jam it in the Wartburg :) I'll even give you an EJ20T to fill its empty space :)

The impreza appears to have non reverseable gear oil in the interior horrible smell damage.
I thought I could knock it, but it's been incredibly stubborn. It is extremely offensive. Makes me really angry, the interior was mint and it was never smoked in it's entire life. The PO decided to store a rear differential on the rear carpet. It soaked the sound deadening until it was a gooey mush. I scraped it all up, wiped it all down with acetone, cleaned it with simple green and removed the entire carpet... still smells horrible after about 2 months of constantly airing out and covering the entire interior in baking soda.
Gear oil smells like VICTORY! Don't be a girlyman.

Well I do opt to bathe in it on a regular basis, but for a windows up winter car with the heat on. NO THANK YOU!

It smells like ass and college age females will not ride in a car that stinks of gear oil.

Plus a dash of Proctor and Gamble
duh, put it in an MG or Spitfire...

I have no idea how you would fit that in a Spitfire.

Much less an MG. Short of a tube chassis it seems pretty much impossible, and, even then, the heads would be competing with your feet for space.
That said, if someone did it, it would be badass.
The usual Japanese LSx swap victims apply (SA/FB/FC RX-7, 240SX, 240ZX), provided the boxer isn't too wide. Find some at your local junkyard and bring measuring tape! Think about it: If Toyota and Subaru went boxer for the low CofG in the Scionbaru, why can't you?

I wanted to do the e30 but sadly it's about 3" too narrow
Something with no top would be pro for beach runs.

Squareback?
I'm thinking a VW kit car or a Karmann Ghia. Both offer you the open top you seem to be looking for.
This with 2 more cylinders.

lol, I was being facetious.....because this is GRM, and anything can be done. And things that shouldn't be done often are. And because I was previously just reading about this MGB with an M42 swap..

Hey Taiden:
How about a road trip?
Bring me the Forester, and I'll give you the Justy.
I feel like being out there a bit...
- Slammed early Bronco
- AMC Pacer
- C4 Vette
- VW Thing
- R107 Mercedes SL
- 928
- Delorian
- Laforza
You could build up a minimal Mini Moke-like special.

VW Vanagon. End of story.
Nothing quite like a breadbox that can do wheelies.

Hang on... Doesn't subaru share a bolt pattern with the mazda rotary for their transmissions? That could be helpful.
In reply to 93EXCivic:
Turned 90* on its side, minus the hood, of course?
