The various Priuses (save for base model Prius Cs with steelies and hubcaps) have generally had decent alloy wheels on them. The covers many of them have on the wheels (which are often a partial cover and not a full hubcap) are for aerodynamics, so at higher speeds you may see a slight loss of MPG by removing them.
I decoded the VIN. This one I'm getting is a base with the #1 package. I might poke around for some alloys from another C... or I might just go all Fiat 500C and do dog dishes and trim rings on stock steelies.
Curtis, my understanding is this is a 2, not a 1. Anyway, I'm glad Threepio is going to someone who will appreciate him. The snows are larger (195 instead of 185) and give slightly better ground clearance. They are studded. Don't forget you get summers as well with only one season on them.
Push button start, keyless entry, cool stuff I'm gonna miss that even the Maverick I bought does not have.
And a CD player!!!!! I think I cleaned about 20 CDs out of the car yesterday.

The Prius C has the Gen 2 prius 1.5L motor- which is a good thing I think. Less issues than the Gen 3 1.8L motors.
That's one of the reasons I went with the C. More reliable motor, supposedly. Going to a regular Prius, I would have had to go back to 2008 to a Gen 2, and all the ones I was finding were insanely high mileage. Getting the C let me get one with a little more life but keep the 1.5L
I bought mine when it had 270k miles. Drive it to 350k when the head gasket started to fail. Had a shop swap in a 40k mile motor and transmission for peanuts and it's now at 370k on the chassis. I'll find out the brand of aftermarket wheels on mine but they look great.
This is the wheel that's on my car, in gunmetal grey, and it looks great!

1. "Did I buy a lemon?"
2. "Does it have a sticking caliper?"
Its been my experience that these two thoughts from above will enter your mind. #1 will enter your mind when you come to your first stop and the damn engine shuts off. Still to this day, when buying a high mile Prius there is still the odd tension and reminder of past "bad experience" car purchases. This car you know nothing about SHUTS OFF and all you can do is hope, and have faith, that its gonna restart as intended.
Keep the faith. It's gonna be okay.
#2 will come to mind as you drive the car and experience regeneration. In short, these cars don't "coast" like most cars when you are off the throttle. It most easily compares to a car that has a sticking caliper where the car kind of "drags down" in speed when off the gas.
It's normal for these. It's somewhat counterintuative initially but soon you will no longer notice it.

That's nice to hear it's a #2. It already has more bells and whistles than I need. I'm beyond exciting. I keep telling my SWMBO "did I tell you I bought a Prius? I bought a Prius." She just rolls her eyes at me.
I'm already shopping bike racks for it and it's not even here yet.
I really appreciate everything you're helping me with. Thank you.

That's good to know. I haven't driven a Prius for a few years, and it was pretty seamless once I got past the oddness that the engine has a mind of its own.
Is the auto regen on coasting something that has to be switched on? I didn't really notice it on the few Cs that I've driven. If it's constant, it's certainly not as obtrusive as the one pedal driving in a Tesla.
I'm greatly amused by the motor whine on regen braking
. And the little video game on the dash that shows how much you are recharging the battery.

No switch. Also not obtrusive like Tesla. Just a slight difference vs traditional cars
The Prius C came with 4x100 wheels, which I assume are relatively narrow. FB Marketplace will have lots of 15x5.5, 15 or 16x6 (or 6.5) wheels from Miatas and MINIs. Should be easy and cheap to find something. My wife's Scion xB runs 185/60/15 tires on a 6.5" wide rim without issue.

Hmm. Maybe it's a life of cars that cruise at 3000-4000 that inured me to casual engine braking when off throttle
OMG the Quantum was the best/worst for this...

That screams minilites to me.
Racks are not cheap for these cars. I looked and ended up not buying a rack. And I couldn't find anything used either. I tried to make a universal fit but no luck. Sorry.
Interesting wheel swap. I thought I might find some Mini wheels pictures but I did find Miata versions.

These are tiny Mini Copper wheels

These look like the Mr. Klayfish Wheels

In reply to John Welsh :
So, in order from the top.....16x6.5......15x6.......15x5.5....Any of them look good, but I'd be inclined to go with a 16" rim, either those Miata ones, or a couple of the 15/16" MINI choices.
15"
16"
16"
All are available in silver or white. I think Curtis" Prius is blue, so either colour would work. I like the 1st picture...they look like 15" Miata Daisies.
I did a road test of one back when I worked for the Reno News and Review.

Short version, it's a strange little hatchback.
In reply to John Welsh :
Yep, those are my wheels. My car is dark grey, so the gunmetal color wheels look perfect.

I've never found the auto-regen in the Priuses to be intrusive. It goes into very light regen when you let off the throttle, basically to simulate a bit of engine braking from a conventional gas powered car. Regen is then increased when you start to apply the brakes.

This has been my experience. I generally drive above the speed limit and back off ever so slightly to maintain as much momentum as possible. But I live in the mountains of Vermont. Easy to keep the battery topped off on the way to work as I drop about 1000' of elevation.
I was going to clean up my Momo Quasars and put them on it if I had kept it. Those are going to a VW friend now.
I had one as a daily for a while. Also rallycrossed it for a season. Good car, there is a TRD rear sway that will help it out a bit.
Also, valenti taillights and the JDM rear deep spoiler are nice bolt ons for the car, really changes the look from behind.
