I have a line on an auction for a Dayton natural gas heater. 60,000 btu. Used. Came out of a fire house in Indiana. Actually , still at said fire house. Auction is sitting at $27 with 2 hours to go.

If it's been above the apparatus floor of a firehouse, it's sucked a crapton of diesel exhaust across its fins through the years. It's going to need a serious cleaning, unless you don't care about the smell.

I planned on that anyway. I don't mind dirt, but it has to be my dirt.
That's a bargain.
Was it gov deals? I've got an oil furnace in my garage and I have half a mind to replace it with natural gas. I'd have to bury a new gas line from the house though. Getting a heater for cheaper than the cost of transportation might make that a bit easier to stomach.
Yup. Govdeals. Unless I'm looking for specifics, like a Holden Caprice, I just put in the distance I'm willing to travel and wade through whatever pops up. I wasn't looking for a heater, but it was too good a deal to psss up.
Sweet deal.
Odd coincidence. I literally just dragged one home from near my house -- it'd obviously been stolen from a construction site. The damn thing costs a thousand bucks on Grainger.

I guess I assumed people reading my post would infer that I actually did the right thing. :-)
When I found out how much it was worth, I nearly ran back to bring it home, so the thief wouldn't have a chance to return and haul it off for good. I've already contacted our neighborhood blog, which pretty much everyone reads, and provided a description. Hopefully, someone will get in touch and accurately describe it so I can get it back to them. If I don't hear from anyone, I'll go to the construction site myself and ask around for the painting contractors from whom it was most likely stolen. If that doesn't work, I'll bring it to the police.

Lolzers. Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure on that. $1,000+ somebody's looking for that. Good on you for doing the right thing.
