Well, now that's settled let me go into long rant describing how you're doing it wrong and instead should be using a mid-engine Starlet powered by 1000 gerbils.... for ice racing.

I'm thinking pretty much: Turn a Miata into a 10lb sledgehammer without taking the "easy" (expensive) way out (V8), and using a turbo 4 cylinder instead. I just happen to have a spare F2T or 3, and i certainly know how to make power with these motors.
The only hard trick will be getting enough tire under the car. Good thing i have a body saw and flares are cheap.
Keeping it in the family even! I have to admit I like the (usually) backwards idea of putting an older motor in a newer car. Especially in this case.

I'm even using a Mazda trans and bellhousing.
Couldn't find an easily accessible rear end i liked, though, so that's going the GM route i think.
it's really simple. Get a C5 or C6 Corvette, add some simple mods and then break out the Sawzall. It's been done with a C4 with rather amazing results

Texas open road race? Silver State whatever its called in Nevada? Straight up drag racing? Seems like there's a place for stupid powerful cars and going around tight corners isn't necessarily it.
Is it time or money keeping you from licensing? You already have two cars you could use for HPDE. If its time holding you back I can't do anything but feel your pain. If its money then NASA midwest has a volunteer program where you earn free HPDE days if you are a NASA member.

They have two dates at Putnam Park, less than an hour from your house.
A TR7 with a ford or chevy V8 installed and your there. You could get close with a TR8, but it won't be as cheap. The wedge shape of the TR7 lends itself well to very high speeds. I've been over 150 MPH in several and they track well.
