What feature did you absolutely hate the way it looked, but then totally got used to it?

Free pancakes, 4 pm dinner, hotel discounts - happy with suspension gap. Happy with sub 200 hp cars, sagginess, viagra ..... life is over ....

My Tacoma has an Extra Power (or smoething) button that changes the shift points and probably some other stuff. Unlike the Sport button in other cars that I've had, you can't just push the button and leave it on forever, you need to hit it every time you start the truck. I even mentioned it in a Toyota customer survey ("Why would I ever want LESS power?"), but now I actually prefer the way the truck drives without it turned on, unless I'm pulling a trailer.

ECT button on toyota/lexus seems to have been around for about 20 years ...

I got so used to wood steering wheels that I bought the wood one from a euro market Touareg and swapped it into mine. A non wood one felt odd

Yeah don't mention it . I am getting so old I am looking for wood wheels to install in my elise, s2000, and 95 mr2 turbo. Looking for wood shift knob and replacing CF with wood veneer like the old sc300 center consoles. Guess when one can't get a woody - they (me), overcompensate

My racecar has 4 power windows. It is dreamy having the ability to roll them up and down at night or for rain with so little worry. Still happy that my one DD has crank windows and I wish the other did too.

One of the more idiotic things I have experienced in the automotive field was in my Jensen CV8. It was way ahead of it's time - 4 wheel discs, American V8 etc, back in the early 60s. 

But then they also used the Chrysler Torqueflite auto trans which in the early years had no Park detent - I have no idea why Chrysler produced them that way, but it didn't make much difference to Chryslers as they were all drum brake an had effective parking brakes.  Couple the lack of a P with 4 wheel discs (Dunlops like the Jags) which had a history of seizing up the hand brake assembly and you had an unguided missile every time you had to park on a hill.

Reminds me of my friend with a TR3 way back when a beer cost 20 cents and the minimum wage was $1.50 an hour. His hand brake broke somehow so he 'saved money' by making one up that consisted of a couple of holes drilled through his driveshaft at right angles, a hole in his trans tunnel between the seats, and a long carriage bolt.   He'd just stop the car and drop the bolt into the hole in the tunnel and then let it roll enough until it fell through the driveshaft. Worked passably well until he came out of the pub one night with a bit too much beer on board and forgot about it. Jumped in, fired it up and went to do a burn out start without pulling the bolt first.......

There were several on my Outback but I've now forgotten what they were, other than the lack of a temp guage.....every once in a while it bugs me.
