won't come down.

A few weeks ago, one of the pop up lights on the Celica popped up, and stayed that way. It'll go down if I crank it by hand, and if I turn the lights on again, it'll pop back up- and stay.

So I got a new assembly at the junk yard. Tossed it in tonight and - same thing. Goes up and stays. So anyone know what that's all about?

Sounds like a contact is hanging up and keeping the up direction powered. Find out if the motor + is staying hot or what exactly it's doing with a multimeter and trace backwards?

I had this problem on my 3rd gen celica and the sheet metal pivot on the light housing just needed to be oiled. Shot it with some WD40 and popped it up and down by hand a few times and it's been fine since.

Hum, now that's a thought. I did change out the "retractor relay" that I saw mounted behind the light, but this is a good way forward. I have noticed from time to time the car is a little slow to start after it sits, like there's a small draw on the battery. I wrote it off to the fans that I didn't have on a relay, but could be this. I'll give it a check.

I can see that, but seems unlikely that two of them would be like that.
