A beauty queen, she is not... It would take a long time to detail this thing...
Isn't that what we want to achieve? Correct the paint on one panel every time you feel the need to do something to it.
Or I'll ship you one of my cars and you can get it to the point where it doesn't need anything....

Go buy a 97-98 M3 sedan and start again......track rat and a family cruiser/tourer.
If one is paid for with all that, it shouldn't take much to shell out 6-7k for a decent sedan

Yeah, I agree. I'm just not very good at bodywork in general. I don't have the touch for it I suppose. Maybe I'll add it to the list- Make it look like not a pile.
Time to learn composites and start playing with wings?
I agree with the composites thing. You need to move from the realm of "buying stuff for my car" to "making stuff for my car". You probably need a welder too.
Drive the hell out of it, or buy something British, Italian, or communist.

My dad is a welder by trade. He'd disown me if I didn't have a 220 unit on a separate circuit just in case, haha.
I wouldn't know where to begin with learning about composites and how to make them. Any helpful links/books to read?
Search "home made fiberglass hood" or "home made carbon splitter" and some stuff should come up. There is some really cool stuff over at Corner Carvers In fact, spending time over there should melt your head with stuff to do. I know it does to me. The other place to look for composite information is from the kayak/boat building world. There is a ton of really good info from those guys. A carbon fiber box flared fender is really just a funny shaped kayak after all.

I can only dream of what it'll be like when I run out of car projects... Therefore I have nothing to add other than how envious I am.
Go get a 540i sport or if you can swing it a M5 and go from there.
Are you running a full Zionsville aluminum race cooling system? VAC oil pump shaft + flapper/baffled oil pan? Dual fuel pumps? Diff cooler or bigger cover? Have you replaced every single bushing in the car and welded in reinforcements to the F+R subframes, sway bar mounts, rear trailing arm pockets?
Does your car have an S54? No.
Your hypothesis is moot.
Every single bushing in the car was done about 30k ago, in addition to RTAB pockets, subrame reinforcements, Shock tower reinforcements, swaybar mounts, and new camber arms... I am running a rogue diff cover. I'm on stock oil pan though, but with the upgraded oil pump. Cooling system is homegrown, but it includes a 3 pass Ron Davis, 3.5" core, custom ducting, electric fans and custom shroud. AC system was deleted as well for better pass through efficiency. No fuel system modifications aside from injectors and programming, however.

Don't tempt me lol. A 6sp S54 has crossed my mind several times over the past year...

I have a VW.
This does not happen....
But to answer your question...
Drive it and enjoy it...
I have to say it. Get a Miata

Also be prepared for lots of experimentation and failure. The best way is to play around alot.
OP: You are not doing something right!
My re-starting point is always when:
I blow up the motor
or crash
or blow up the motor and crash

Or LSjuan.
Roll/pull the fenders and you can stick 265 wide slicks on 18s under the car, add S54, enjoy much faster car.
Wait.... people actually FINISH a car? I thought that was a myth. I didn't think it actually happened.
