Well, for the first time ever, I am at a strange crossroads with myself and my car- There's not much else I can/want/have the budget to do to it... I'm a pretty OCD guy in terms of organization. I have punch lists for my car. Well, after I install my X-brace this weekend, for the first time ever, my punch list has nothing on it.
Depressing is not the correct term... but there is certainly an idleness feel to it where I look at the car and say 'damn, everything I wanted to do to you is done. What now?' So, I turn to you. Let me know if I've overlooked anything. Find me something to bolt on, paint, or do to this thing...
The culprit-
It's got pretty much every power adder that isn't FI or cams in/on it. A full PSS9 suspension, adjustable sways, brand new RS-3's, upgraded brakes, cobra seat with a bolt in bar, Z3 steering rack, upgraded cooling systems (oil and water), and a 3.62 triple clutch diff. (Note- Please do not take this as bragging- the car was virtually track set up when I bought/stole it)
For all intents and purposes, the car is completely sorted for the track and is an absolute riot. I love it and wouldn't trade it for much to be honest, even though the E36's carry a 'stigma'. My issue is that I have a mental disorder that requires me to tinker and spend ungodly amounts of time in my garage. If I can't think of anything more to do, I fear I will end up with more mods like this-
Please save me from myself. Tell me what to do!!! haha.
Buy another car!!
I'm nearing this crossroads with my daily driver. There's LOTS of things i could do to it still, but they would bring the car from it's current status of "Mentally Unhinged" to "Full on looney bin what the berkeley is wrong with you?" status.
Sooo... i just need to keep it clean now and settle with "only" 30psi and meth.

So that explains the stickers on the car.
Aero? Front splitter/undertray/spoiler/vortex generators/canards?
Box flares and wider tires?

It needs gutted as well......bmw race cars don't carry that stigma.
Does not compute...does not compute....does not compute...
It is gutted. I even scraped the $%@#$%)(#@# sticky sound deadener from the rear and floor. Still has the headliner and sunroof though- I'm quite fond of the tigerprint to be honest.
Re: aero- yeah, I have an undertray and splitter on now. I could do canards I suppose. I'm waiting for an LTR wing to pop up that won't cost me my first child too... Widebody is one of those 'over the top' mods though at the moment. I'm already running 245 squared in the stock (rolled) fenders. If I need more rubber, then that's when the Caymen R mod gets installed.
If the list of things you've done on your car is long enough, you could always write a book about it. If it's shorter, try magazine articles.

Hmmm, sorted, usable car. Obviously you need to sell it and buy a project car.

As long as its on your visor and not on your und... never mind.
It'll need something at some point.
In the meantime, now you can start on some completely bonkers project without any pressure to get it done quickly in order to have something to drive. Build a Locost? Some crazy engine swap, or build yourself a tube chassis to go under the body of your choice?
What do you want to do? A cast-off stock car could be turned into an even better track day toy. When you finish building it, you could then sell off the E36 and build something more awesome to drive on the street...
Or just use the funds freed up from not having to buy upgrades constantly to do more events. At least 'til you decide what it is that you want that this isn't giving you...
In any case, congrats. Enjoy it. I only ever got a car >>this close<< to "done" once, and it got rear-ended and totaled pretty much the next week.
Track days.... lots of track days.
go out and break something? blow something up? start looking for an engine to rebuild?
Start detailing. With an older black car you should be busy for a while
Start collecting the parts to build an alloy block engine, cams, ITBR's etc
Buy a British car. You will never run out of things to do.
I have no experience that would help in answering this question.

But make sure it's just collecting. Never do anything with the parts you collect.

A beauty queen, she is not... It would take a long time to detail this thing...
+1 for aero, you can start by adding a diffuser and increasing front downforce to balance it out.

This is what I was thinking, use it up, wear it out, then you'll have plenty to fix, repair, upgrade...
My wife will have my berries for breakfast if I come home with another car, haha. That hasn't stopped me before. I blame it on my son. He's 4. He'd rather hand me wrenches and play with my floor jack than play with toys, watch tv, or pretty much do anything else.
Yeah... that's right. Blame the 4 year old...
The thing is- the more this car has progressed, the less road friendly it has become. I mean, let's face it- Doing a 14 hour caravan in a cobra with 5 points and race dampers is not a sane option. Maybe I should try and find something to build up into a cool little (fast) family cruiser... You know, something with a usable back seat and tires that last more than 6000 miles.
