Do you have an iOS device. I've heard good things about BRZO as an aggregator. Otherwise Autotempest, but I find that to be clunky at times.

Searchtempest  used to be awesome, but a couple years ago it stopped working in real time (there became a big delay in the aggregation),  so I quit looking at it.

I still use searchtempest. It's clunky, but at least gives you a couple of starting points.

I use Csmart for I phone.  You did say aggravator correct.  Cpro used to be the best until CR stopped letting it.

I just use the actual website with a 200 mile radius from my zip code. Seems to work better than most apps now.

Otherwise CPlus for Craigslist works well on Android

I use searchtempest. Seems like some of the results I get are pretty recent - like within hours of posting. Not sure how long the delay is...?

Autotempest = specialized version of Searchtempest. Both appear to work until you compare what they return with what happens if you go to the actual same city CList and search using same criteria.

IMO if you are wanting to look nationwide then the Tempest twins work OK as long as you realize there is a delay/lag/drop out of certain ads. If you are looking in a large regional area you are better off hopping over 3-6 separate cities on actual CList and then use the built-in CList "nearby" to cover the gaps.

The CPlus for Craigslist app does that. I have several cities that I travel to every once in a while a when I do a search, it will go through each of those in order. It’s really a very handy app.

I just end up doing multiple searches and including the max number of cities.  All the aggregators I’ve tried have missed a lot when I try them back to back.

Hey all,

Nathan, owner of Tempest here.  This came up in my alerts, and I had to drop in to correct what a few people are saying—there is zero delay in the craigslist listings you find through searchtempest or autotempest.  You can see that for yourself, because we don't actually show the craigslist listings on our page.  Instead, we take your search and the area you're searching, and work out the most efficient set of craigslist results pages (each of which covers up to a 200 mile radius) to cover your whole search area, then we link you to those.  (Along with an 'open all' button.)  Once you open those results, you're on craigslist, exactly as if you'd run that search directly.  So there couldn't be any delay or missing results.

Years ago, we did what others do now, and got craigslist results from Google, which did come with a delay. That's why we switched to what I described above.  (Despite it being, yes, a bit clunky.  Although if you're just looking to do a quick search and don't care about a delay or missing results, we still do have a toggle on the results page to switch back to that way of doing things, if you prefer.)

Now, aside from craigslist, on AutoTempest we do pull in results from numerous other sources, like Cars.com, eBay, Carsoup, and a bunch of others.  Those do have a bit of a delay, since we import their listings a few times a day.  It should never be more than a few hours though.

I hope that helps!  If you ever find a search isn't returning the results you expect, feel free to email us too.  We check the emails regularly, and always respond.

Wow. Cool that you stopped in. After reading the other guys comments here I tried copying the search strings from one of my saved searches over to the search field of the local CL. I did get a few ads that didn't show when done through searchtempest, even though I was using the ported-to-CL method. Any thoughts?

Just recently used Autotempest, and found the GMT400 Suburban I've been looking for.  Working out shipping for it now.

It's a little clunky having to navigate through all the different cities but it does work, and the addition of other results (ebay, cars.com, etc) was nice.  Once I got used to it I could look through the day's search results nationwide in about 5 minutes.  Will use again.

Just out of curiosity I went back and reran my saved searchtempest boat search, then manually went to one of the CL pages that it produces. By copying the same search string over and then making sure the exact same search criteria were checked (has photo, same cities checked in search nearby, order by newest) I was able to produce identical search results. So at least in a quick test, searchtempest isn't missing anything vs. native CL search for me. I must have checked a different box previously to get different results.

I've given up on aggregators and just subscribe to searches I'm actively watching. I might have to go to multiple regions once each to get the searches set up, but then I get emails when new stuff matches them.

Im pretty sure I can build a bot to search craigslist sites for certain ads and put the results in an excel or something with links. cool

Pretty sure you’d be responsible for a relative increase in divorce rate and/or/also decrease in population expansion.

My guess would be another filter, like price, category, or 'has image'?  I couldn't say for sure without seeing the actual search though.  You could probably figure out what the difference is by comparing the url of the craigslist page we link you to, to the one you get when you run the search manually.

For what it's worth, since we link you to actual craigslist results pages, we could speed up that process for you a bit.  Basically you could just run the search once on searchtempest, then click the email subscribe buttons in each of the craigslist results pages we link to.  Would save you manually searching multiple regions (and working out which cities you need to include to cover your whole search area).

Fair point, though I have to weigh that against gaining familiarity with another tool (there's always something, no matter how simple the tool). If I did it more often it would probably gain appeal.
