Fox Body or F Body?
Or a Mark VII? :)
Actually, I think a Mark VII would be nearly perfect, purely 'Merican and comfortable with decent highway mileage. Plus it's kind of rare but with a common drivetrain.
Not biased at all.
I am going to say 'diesel', find a diesel rabbit or even better a diesel vw pickup? I live in CA but have never owned a diesel, I believe there is no emissions testing on diesels. Also second the earlier note about CA folks will have trepidations about IL cars. Or a diesel pickup with a cap, homeless folks need a roof and wheels.

Oh man, I just thought about it and I'd jump on this. Knowing out here, some scumbag will turn it into a demo derby car.

I am trying to convince myself this is a good idea for the ride home.
So it looks like we're changing our thinking - fly to LA, drive back to Chicago (some of us can only get two weeks off from work, and considering 66 is a 50 hour trip without stops...)

Perhaps I've been watching The Crow too much, but I want the Thunderbird in the background.
