Should this be jumped on? Not really in the market for a 2 seater( in the winter no less... ), but its a miata. Can't go wrong, right?

Is it worth it? Does a fat baby fart?

The answer is: YES.

I can't quite see $700 in parts on that thing. Maybe I'm too sober and can if I have a few more beers ...

Personally I would think you could buy a running miata with a top for less than it would take to get that one into good condition, but I haven't price checked them lately.

hehe... Does a fat baby fart.....u silly. I like that. Ok, coolant leak best case scenario is a hose, what about the rack and pinion repair/replacement? And if not a hose or water pump, could it be as major as a warped head or something?

In reply to davidjs:

i look at it as a winter project, to get away from the wife type project...

i bought one in about that condition for $200 and drove it onto my trailer three years ago. coolant leak could be the cap on the back of the head, seriously it's a $2 and 10-minute fix. or it could be something worse.

i wouldn't pay more than $500 for that POS.

$300 for a cheap top, plus $150 for a rain rail (good luck getting out a 20 year old one without breaking it...)

So add another $500 for the top and $500 for the steering rack?

He says non-negotiable on the price, but I'd offer $400 and see if he is willing to deal. Don't go any higher than $600 though.

$350... but find a better one if its going to cost more than $100 in gas to drag it home.

Well, thanks for all of the input. I think I'm going to pass though. We've got a newborn in the house( 3 weeks on Thurs ) and I don't really want anything that I can't put a car seat into right now. It would be nice, but now's not the time. Thanks again for the info.
