What is this?

Is this car a McLaren? Saw this pic as part of a great slide show, most of the other pics I either knew the car or the pic was labeled.

the partially covered rear wheel gives is the look of a lotus 23 (the car in the far background), but this is definitely something else. It looks like some sort of old USRRC car like an Elva, Huffaker, or something else. It has the right color for a Mclaren but I just found a site listing all their sports racers and this doesn't match any of them. Damn, now this is going to bug me...

Ha! I actually found another pic of that car!

Here is another one of these cars at the 2003 vintage grand prix at watkins glen. I remember seeing this car when it was there but i don't remember what it was. If someone could manage to make out what it says on the nose they might be able to find what kind of car this is.

Definitely not an 11. I believe the red car does say Forsgrini on the nose, so I'm thinking Carson has it figured.

The nose says, "Forsgrini Engineering Ltd."

So the Forsgren brothers made a handful of cars in the 60's, how you knew that Carson I will not know, but I'm glad you did.

I like the look of that car.

With all the locost kits out there and Factory Five stuff I'd love to have somebody make something like this in kit form that uses a bike engine.

I wonder if the body molds are still in existence? I would think so if there are at least two of them racing. My bet is that one of those guys bought the molds or maybe made new ones to be able to repair any body damage.

I wonder what the dimesions are compared to something like a Diasio.

Totally grassroots racers, made and machined what they ran, and cleaned up pretty well in them too. I'm very impressed.

Excellent link. A car like that is buildable. Not that different than a locost except the fiberglass body and side pods....and the mid engine layout.

Hewland gearboxes are what the formula ford guys run right?
