saw this in a junkyard next to a 5-sp turbocoupe and a fjs that I pulled a TON of good stuff off (honestly, I think my rig deserved to be parted down more than this one.).
Anyway,

Anyway,
It's an MGA. I THINK a later one.
Here's a nice MGA coupe: http://classicmotorsports.net/reader-rides/79/
And one racing: http://classicmotorsports.net/reader-rides/77/
I'll be damned. I didn't look under the hood, but the body seemed pretty nice overall, just missing a lot of stuff.
Under the hood you should find the standard BMC B-series lump in either 1500 or 1600 cc form.
If it's not rusty, some MG guy wants stuff from it (although it looks like they've already picked a bunch off).
With the separate frame, they're relatively easy to restore.
Not nearly as amenable to engine swaps as the B, though. Narrow engine bay, and not much access. It can be done, though.
Lots of later B stuff will swap in for some pretty good (and fairly easy) upgrades/updates.
Personally, I always loved the looks, but never cared for driving an A. Couldn't get used to the big steering wheel right in my chest.

^^ Local MG-specialist shop owner put a Rover V8 into one in much worse shape than that one, and it turned out stunningly well.
Get back there and grab that thing.
That MGA doesn't look rusty at all. You should buy it is a very nice car. I would love to get that car if I didn't already have three MGs for sale.
between my '79 wagoneer '79 RX7 and my p71 i've got plenty to do. but I can see the attraction. the floorplans under the seat look like they'd been unbolted? what was left there was a little crusty, but overall quite good for what it is.
The floorboards are made of plywood. IIRC
Beautiful cars, and very well balanced handling wise. Gotta love the pull-string door handles!
Someone needs to save this one.
you've got to join an MGA forum and post it up there. or buy it and immediately put it on ebay. either way, you'll go to heaven and get to pop seventy-three cherries.
You're already registered for the Classic Motorsports forum (and classifieds). That'd be a good place to start if you want to flip it.

Yes the floorboards were made of wood (I guess it was the easiest way to prevent rusty floor boards!)
I agree with all, unless the yard is asking $4000 for it or something, you could jump on it i and flip it pretty easily.

I once knew a man who had made a not-so-smart decision to drive an A across Arizona. In July. He drilled holes in the plywood and stuck blocks of ice in the footwells just to keep him and his passenger a little cooler.
That car looks to be in surprisingly good shape. I'd say grab it if you can.
A co worker had one back in the mid '60's, he was going down a two lane road one night and ran over something in the road. He stoped, looked underneath, saw some scratches etc but the car still ran and drove OK so he took off. He got about 15 miles further and smelled something odd: the exhaust had been bent and pushed up against the plywood floor and it was smoldering.
