The one on the exomotive website has the inlet going into the side with two ports, I assumed that was a collector (i.e. the engine side of things)? Are mufflers directional? (lol - I'm clueless)

That's the trick of the "Camaro" style muffler...It's a 1 in/2 out muffler, but unconventionally puts the outlets on opposite sides.

.

That's actually becoming a common setup on modern cars, the Toyobaru uses a similar muffler for example.

Heh, I ran at Laguna a few times, plenty of Laguna Bends - usually capped with Super Trapps on the rotary engines. Good idea though.

If it works. I have to go on unrestricted days and those are few and far between. I have no space left for mufflers on my car and the exhaust exits behind the door.

This is what turbos are for.  Turns all that sound-limit-busting noise into extra horsepower. :)

Turbo all the things! But until I can consistently drive the Exocet @ 8-9/10 of it's actual capacity with the stock 1.6 I'll keep the speeds down. I appreciate the go juice, but also see a lot of cars turning "fast laps" that are at roughly 5/10 of the car's/tire's actual capacity. The reason I got the exocet was actual a game of consumables (I know, exo-cost included I'm probably not winning). I figure I can get more laps per tire/brake set out of cheaper stuff than anywhere else and be "relatively" safe. Case and point I've got 2 spare engines for cheap because no-one wants a 1.6. I'm getting some help via coaching and it's amazing just how bad it turns out you are when sized up against a pro (hah!).

Ah-ha! Well that all makes a bit more sense. I wonder if I can scavenge one from a production car take off? Maybe a speed3? It has 1 inlet, 2 out.

Low boost in my car with twin turbos is like 1400-1800hp. I have trouble with traction already at 800.

On to your problem a center input like this might work.

The magnaflow is a decent piece  It will favor the far end outlet.  Maybe use a vacuum acutated valve on that end to keep it quieter until the throttle is WOT then both tailpipes would be wide open.

Along with the pictured shiney Vibrant muffler.  I just installed one recently on a 2jz swapped frs.  I was impressed with its internal construction.  Nice clean sound.

A factory MSP3 muffler immediately has a blocked off pipe about 4-5" into the muffler.  Its perforated tube into a dead end then it enters a few different chambers.  The inlet reminds me of the tractor mufflers I see at TSC.  Its probably fine for a small motor, flow capacity wise, but I cannot help but think on a n/a Mioooter motor its going to be ringy.  The FoST muffler is similar, but much better and simpler.

I personally prefer Borla or Vibrant mufflers most of the time.  Magnaflows tend to have a "cripsy" sound I think its due to the particular packing they use.

FWIW, I am running a Summit brand Turbo Stainless muffler.  When I was n/a I ran the 2.5" version, and have a 3" version on my yet-to-be-tuned turbo setup, both have a center inlet and offset outlet.  They are cheap and I didn't have any issue running events with sound while n/a, and don't anticipate any w/ the turbo setup.

Be careful with turbo mufflers advertised 3".  9/10 chance it necks down to 2.5 or 2.25 inside. Pretty much rendering the 3" upgrade useless

I have the Enthuzacar single inlet / single outlet on my Exocet and it is reasonably quiet at lower revs thru the neighborhood, yet gets alot more sporty sounding above 3500 rpm.  It is a bit raspy up top, but not enough to make me slot in a resonator where the cat normally would fit.  I do run the stock 1.6 exhaust manifold and downpipe fwiw.  Fit is perfect, no issue with low clearance at all.  But not sure that even a compact cat would fit if you were inclined to run one.  There is some exhaust fume suckback into the cockpit at moderate speeds.  Not sure what would cure that but I might try a downturn tip this summer.
