My sister-in-law gets me clothes all the time since her husband likes clothes - one year I asked for tools and they were perplexed; "why would Pete want tools? Wouldn't he like some nice dress shirts or slacks?"
I hated when those Rugby shirts came into style back in the 1990's....the shirts with the rubber buttons?
So the sister-in-law stepped up and got me tools one year.........this. So now I am really specific on what to get me.
What scares me more, is that is the 2nd edition. Means it was popular enough the FIRST time around that they did it again.
Ha! One of the Wreck Racing guys (Bowenaero here) could really use that - he just got a job as race engineer for a Nascar team and needs to bone up on his Nascar rules, trivia, etc.

I'm still trying to figure that one out. On one hand she could be just like every other non-gear head type and assume that when I say I like car racing that I must be talking about NASCRAP. But I've been married to her daughter for 25+ years, and she's always known (but taken no interest in) that I'm a gear head and race enthusiast. That being the case, exactly what is she trying to say by giving me a NASCAR for dummies book? That I'm a dummy?
Then again, maybe she was just trying to be funny, I dunno.
so how detailed is the book? does it get into the nuts and bolts of the cars, or is it just "Jimmy Johnson has the number 48 on his car. he wins the cup a lot and some people don't like him very much" kind of stuff?

Couldn't tell you. I haven't opened it.
My MIL/FIL gave me 2 pairs of padded Mechanix gloves, a set of Harbor Freight welding clamps, a $50 Lowe's gift card, and a $50 Macy's gift card (since I have to wear suits to work, and always need more shirts/ties).
No complaints here!
Well, if you need to re-gift that, I'm sure our old friend Fogger Jr. would find it very informative.
...actually, maybe not, since he already knows everything there is to know.
This year the MIL gave each of us (her daughter and I) cash to spend buying each other a gift from her. It was fun.
